Significant Technical Input
I think you are telling us you have water in the cylinders from leaking head gaskets. That happens sometimes. If you did not overheat the engine very much the cylinder heads are probably good. Then you would only need new gaskets.

Replacing the engine with one from a Legacy would make your SVX the same as a farm tractor. Not a good choice.

But the availability of EG-33's may not be as plentiful in Oman as it is in NJ. That's why he is looking at other engines that can go in.

Any Subaru EJ (Legacy, Impreza) engine could be made to fit if you can get the wiring sorted out. But there has been a lot of debate over whether it will give the power/torque neede to keep you happy.

Someone is in the middle of a 2.5 turbo swap right now...

Shabib, I highly recommend you locate a used SVX engine over there and fit it in instead of yours. Making other engine swaps will cost a lot, especially in Labor.

With all the imports from Japan to the region it may not be that costly to get a replacement engine from there.

You can sure say that again. STi engine + Gearbox + Wiring + Pedals + Diff + handle + ECU + HOOD SCOOP + LABOR = ~$
