They look like SVX lights, but as far as I know, no cars had city lights prior to 1999. They JDM lights are the same as the US and E-Code lights, but the light frames are mounted in different spots to provide the appropriate patterns for the country.

US Spec lights can be disassembled and reassembled to E-Code settings or JDM settings.

As for brighter, the guy probably just put over wattage bulbs in them.

I'd love to see the "City Lights" as they are probably just the fogs.

They are my lights. They are actually JDM SVX lights. I got them from an importer in Philadelphia with my Alcyone tailbar and clear corners. (TomsSVX was with me when I bought them)

There were city lights before '99. Refer to FD Rx-7s (1993+) and Honda Preludes.

The UK-spec housings also have the "city light" feature. These are small 5w white bulbs located in the bottom of the high beam area and serve as parking lights when the ignition is on (or off with the parking light switch depressed)

UK motor vehicle laws say that only flashing amber lighting is permitted (as in turn signals). It is not legal to have amber lighting that does not flash (like our parking lights). I have seen these in person on a couple of UK SVX's.

You explained what I was going to explain.. Yeah they are rather called parking lights. All cars in Japan has those small 5W bulb light installed usually bellow hi or lo beam in the main light housing. You are not allowed to drive only with the parking lights on (although some people do).

Wow. I was really wrong. I thought city lights were a new thing.

Yes John the Australian model is the same. We can't show any other colour light to the front of the car, thats why we have clear side lights, and amber turn bulbs. The park lights are in the hi-beams,and can be used as running lights. The same for the glass, we had to have head lights of only glass, till about 97? when Polly lenses were allowed. Can't have fog lights in the front or rear, and don't have to have the side reflectors.

It must have been a real problem for Subaru to make so many different models variations for all the different markets. Like the glass head lights for only 200 Australian models.

Harvey.

City lights? Isnt that when you hang multicolored christmas lights up and string them around the interior? Or am I mixing this up with ghetto lights?
