That would be something I would recommend buying new. With a used one there's no saying how long it will last before it separates. You can also consider getting a 1 piece lightweight pulley (either OEM size or underdriven)

I have been reading that replacing with a one piece may cause problems becasue it lacks a harmonic dampener, any truth to this. And is replacement as easy as removing the old pulley and putting on the the new one, or does this lead to having to replace the timing belt etc.?

I think you would be OK going with a one piece model. As long as you get one that's of decent quality. I had one on my old svx and it didnt cause any issues that I know of.

It still hasn't, however it hasn't been run in a few months.

So overall it seems better to go to a one piece like from motorsports than to get a more expensive OEM?

used crank pulley

I have a used stock crank pulley with 80,000 miles. I replaced it with an Unorthodoz Racing billet aluminum pulley (5 pounds lighter), after 23,000 miles, no problems to report. 5 years ago I paid $185 for the aluminum pulley. If you are interested in my used pulley, make an offer.

check with Perrin to see if their lightweight (not underdriven) crank pulley will work on the SVX - Perrin Pulley
i have this one on my Legacy.

i had a "very slightly underdriven" lightweight pulley from member OvidiuSTAN from the network on my SVX with no problems, and it made the car rev up nice and quick. check with him to see if they are still available. you will need a different belt for this one, however.
