Rob, have a look at my thread in technical Q & A re cam belt replacement and in particular the point raised with reference to replacing the tensioner. Surely this answers your queries. The tensioner should have been replaced along with the water pump.

Please include a brief reference to you experience in my thread as it will be a useful record. See comments there.

N. B. There are others quoting in this thread experiences which could also be worth including so as to build up lots of useful info.

I can use a 95-97 SVX radiator in my 1992, correct?

Just double checking before I drop $300.

Maybe I've just glossed over something, but, I hear references to broken tensioner bolts and cams dropping teeth and blaming it on the dealership (which, believe me, I have no love for), but, didn't the initial post say you took a hard smack in a dip? I think, before I'd start blaming a dealer for this particular set of problems, I'd consider (since, admittedly, the dip was hit with great impact), my own contribution to the possibilities.

The dealership isn't being blamed for the actual problem with the car, as I understand it. The dealership is being blamed for the complications involved in fixing said problem. Apparently, there are bolts, which Rob never touched, that are cross-threaded.

The broken radiator I'd be more willing to blame on the impact, but I haven't seen the car.

there are multiple areas of cross threaded bolts, that is what is being blamed. If you can recall any of my experiences with MY subaru dealership(why i sold my white SVX) they are a bunch of gm mechanics that try and stuff the wrong parts everywhre.

Ah, never mind. I did "gloss over" something. Carry on.

I'm not sure everyone understands, so I'll just clarify. The UPPER radiator hose neck was cracked, inside where the hose goes. I am not blaming the dealership for this; perhaps I leaned on it or something- I don't know what caused it.

I AM blaming them for cross threading the timing belt cover, the radiator fans, basically destroying the plastic cover/guide that holds the wires that go to the A/C compressor and alternator, cracking one of the fan mounts, and failing to tighten the upper radiator hose, so I blew out all my coolant and was stranded on the side of the road for 2 hours (which was in August).

No. There was apparently nothing wrong with my diff aside from the seals. It's still in my garage.

Radiator

Hi Rob, Hope you get your SVX going asap. When I replaced my radiator a couple of years ago, I was told that only radiators for later years were available. And that these would fit the earlier model years. Take care, BOBB

Plus the later ones don't have the screen that blocks the clumps in the transmission fluid.
