I ran out of gas today

Boy did I feel dumb. However, I don't feel quite as dumb considering the fact that I KNEW i was low on gas, and attempting to make it to the nearest gas station.... and the other saving grace was that I knew there were... ZERO gas stations in downtown madison. How annoying. Anyway, a call to AAA and a 23 minutes later, I was back in business!

23 minutes is pretty friggin' quick.

I had never run out of gas in a car until the Justy. Since I got the Justy about a year and a half ago, I've run out twice. BOTH times I drove past gas stations, knowing I was on fumes, in an attempt to find cheaper fuel.

I did that twice. Once in a Camaro and another time in one of the SVXes.

Since then, I've carried an extra gallon of 93 Octane gas in the trunk in a little container.

I've done it once, but I still try and push it occasionally looking for cheaper gas, especially given the current gas prices. With the stereo equipment and various loose items in my trunk, I don't feel comfortably carrying a gas can in the trunk

I carry an empty gas can in the trunk. The reason I have the gas can is because I had to buy it once years ago when I ran out of gas and needed something to carry the gas back in from the station.

So now I at least don't have to buy another gas can.

I don't feel comfortable keeping if filled though, just because it's gas I guess. Maybe I'm spooked from that episode of "CHiPs" where the guy was driving and a gas can in the back of the station wagon was leaking fumes and he passed out and cause a big wreck.

You should see the extra tank on the outside of my Dad's Pajero. It's metal. People are too careful and worrieful in this country.
