1993 AE SVX #291 of 301 For Sale

Hi All,

Well just over a year ago I made a deal with the devil and now it's time to pay up.

The deal I made with my wife was that I would get my beloved 93 AE SVX and over the course of the next year I would get myself back into good physical shape. Well, I'm still a lump and she's still a......., well that's another matter all together!

Anyway, a deal is a deal and now I've got to sell the only car I ever REALLY wanted. (A note to all you single guys out there, LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE).

My 93 AE SVX (#291 of 301) now has 69,000 miles on it. The interior is about as mint as it gets. It's mechanically sound including the transmission. The glass and exterior are in good shape with the exception of a weird paint issue on the passengers rear quarter panel. The tires are new Blizzaks or something like that and have about 2,000 miles on them. This SVX has not yet experienced many of the issues that others have encountered and comes will all the little extras and a complete set of bills. See the attached .pdf file for more information.

The car is located in Saskatchewan, Canada. It was of course originally from the U.S. so there is no problem crossing the border. I'd like to get US$ 8,000 for it.

The forum has another member in Regina if you'd like an independant inspection and evaluation.

For more information or pics, contact me at either 1993SVX@gmail.com or randyanddonna@gmail.com

I have seen this car in person and it does look nice. I can't say I've thoroughly examined it though.

That price seems a little high. The highest figure I saw was a retail figure in the Baltimore/Washington, DC area. Considering it to be in Outstanding condition with 69,000 miles, the retail quote was between $6000-$6800. The private party value was listed at around $5300-$5500

These were comparisons between Kelly Blue Book, NADA and Edmunds in a high-dollar retail area. But these figures are meaningless to a true enthusiast who craves a 93 Anniversary SVX. Most of the time emotion and desire outweigh everything else.

But then again, svxfiles sold one of his 92 pearlies for $8000.

Yea, I guess the price is a bit high but it's negotiable a little. As you mentioned, book value really means little. To some a mint 68 Camero SS is simply and old chevy. I set that price after considering what I paid for it and what it's really worth to me. (Regardless of what the wife says!).

As you can tell by the mileage this thing has been babied. It has the best spot in my garage, under a car-cover with my Land Rover sitting out in the rain and snow. My SVX is the car I drive when it's just me on a sunny day with the windows down and "no particular place to go."

I guess the other factors I took into consideration are:
a) The complete set of maintenance records. The lady who owned this before me had ALL her work done at one dealership and I contacted them before I bought it (sight unseen). They spoke really highly of the car and the owner.
b) It comes will ALL of the little extras such as cup holder, owners video, sun-roof crank, etc. These are small-ticket items but they help to make this a truley factory-original.
c) The interior is absolutly mint. Any minor imperfections in paint etc. can easily be dealt with, but the interior can be tough and expensive to try to re-do. (Ya know, I don't think the sun-visors have EVER been flipped down)
d) Hey, it's pretty much as rare as they get. Check out the production numbers on any other car. The new Mustang, Corvette C6, whatever. If you want a true "collectable", #291 of 301 is pretty rare and with 69,000 on it, that's a plus.

If anyone want pics of anything specific let me know. We have an active member (Dza) who lives in the same city if you want an indpendant evaluation.

It's been a while and I was starting to wonder what happened to you, Randy. Sorry to hear that you're selling. You had TWO, now you'll have 0 I hope it stays in Regina.

Having seen this car in person I can tell you that you won't find another 1993 vehicle with an interior of this quality. It looks brand new. I haven't driven it or given any sort of thorough inspection, but from what I have seen and heard from Randy about the previous owner's care for the car it's all good.

I hope Donna and the kids are still well. Let me know if there's anything I can do for you to help sell the car.

Hey Dza, been super busy with work. Any time I've seen you on the road with your SVX everyone around me must think I'm a wing-nut because I'm flashing my lights and waving like crazy. I usually get out for a drive sunday nights if the weather is nice. Let's get together for coffee soon!

By the way my mindset is if it doesn't sell, gee, at least I tried So don't give me too much help.

I refuse to sell it to some kid who is going to stick decals and light bars or whatever all over it. This is like when someone's daughter gets married - I'm not just going to let any old *@$^@!# take her!

P.S. Randy to Wife: Yes, as a matter of fact I wouldn't mind sleeping in my SVX!

I think 8,000 is way too low and you should raise the price to 16,000 or more -- if it takes a longer time to sell, so what Don't let anyone take advantage of you by selling cheap. The more you sell the car for the more gifts you can buy your wife. So take your sweet time. While waiting to get your price, work out, and cut back on the intake.

Randy,

Good to see you again, I haven't seen your name on the board for a while, and now you're on to sell her

I also got to see this car when Randy picked it up in Pennsylvania. It was in beautiful condition back then and it sounds like it's lived an easy life up north...

btw, On Wednesday night we happened to come across the "Corner Gas" DVD you gave us when you were here and both said that we need to watch it again

Gee, all these post are brining back lots of good memories of finding and picking up the car.

I may just have to make a tough decision soon, the SVX or her

Randy to wife - "Please don't make me choose!!!"

I have one with the interior that is like new as well. It only has 56k on it and I don't think that the back seat has ever been sat in.

I hope you can't sell it. It would be a real shame. You might make another deal with the devil and explain that you know that you must follow through next time.

What do you need to do? Loose weight, get into shape, or both?

Yea, I guess maybe I should get back to the gym. With 5 kids, I spend most of the time driving "Dad's Taxi" but, I guess there comes a time when one has to put there foot down and make time for themselves, and the long-term benefit of the "family unit."

For now, the car is still for sale, but only at the right price and to the right person.

A few weeks ago my wife insisted that she was going to train to run in a marathon. She was very serious and swore that is what she was going to do. Her mistake. My stance is if I haven't got back into shape by the time she runs a marathon I keep the car. I estimate that should buy me somewhere between 12 months and forever before I have to sell!
