You are correct. Some european countries require glass headlamps, including Germany and some others. SVX's sold in those countries are equipped with glasss headlight lenses.

The labor involved and shipping would rival the cost of new headlights. If Lwin has the spare time, great. My plate is a little too full right now. Earl can vouch for that

Prove it?

I wrote an email to Subaru German. If needed, I will call them next week. I need a couple of parts from them. Such as the light adjuster.

come see pics

Thanks all for replying. Rather funny to as much replies to my intitial question within 24 hrs. as there are SVX in the Netherlands!
I have put some pictures in my locker. Checked the headlamps and do think they are glass, but.... as bleak as in your American pictures.
Now, I know all of you are terribly in love with the SVX looks, but how about a nose job.
I would reccommend the Alfa Romeo 166, Brera/Evoluta , see pics related design.
But clear head lights could do it as well I agree.

I wouldn't change the front of the SVX at all. Even if it is 'dated,' that's fine by me. Trying to change the front of the car to look more 'modern' is pointless to me. In a couple more years, your changes are just going to look 'dated' to you again.

While there are design cues in the SVX that clearly place it in the early '90s, overall it's still a timeless design.

No, sir, I won't be changing the look of my SVX one bit. But you're welcome to change yours. Try hanging out in our 'Mod Mania' forum - you're likely to find everything pertaining to exterior modifications there.

What's this about the myth of CDN SVX's without heated seats? Maybe the older ones weren't equipped with them. My '96 is, as are all the other '96's & 97's I've seen. After all, how can you call yourself an "I AM" without hot buns?

I can do it but it will cost $$$$ and with the how-to there, it might be easier just to do it yourself. It's not that bad.

Well, I'll have to remind everyone that in general, I don't seem to know what I'm talking about.
there was a previous thread where there was the claim that CAN models all had Heated seats.
So we asked if anyone had one, and there was no evidence.
Glad to hear that you are one of the lucky ones.

Plus I did read something that confirmed what you said, 96 and newer models had heated seats, but not sure if that was a North America spec or EMEA(Europe/Middle East/Asia) spec.

So now I'll have to look for a 96, hmmm. maybe I should just worry about one at a time???

That would be for the Canada.

As far as I have looked, It doesn'y look like I will ever be getting a or newer from Canada anytime soon. But here in Vancouver, heated seats aren't really a nessecity, but just a nice to have.

I'm going to do some research on either adding or making a retrofit system that is cheap.
If I find some options, I'll post results.

But we're getting off topic

This thread is about headlights right?

Who's going the buy some German glass headlight assemblies?
My stepmom goes to Germany one in a while, and she may be able to take some carry-on.
Will they fit? are they cheap? she's in Toronto, and I don't think I'll need them, but for the good of the network, I could ask her next time she goes.

I am interesed. Yes they will fit. If not I'll make them fit. I do not know the cost yet. Can she find that out for me? I've already asked Subaru Germany but no response yet.

Thanks
