Re: How to get out of or beat your speeding ticket?

My dad's method -
Dad:"Well, my wife was having a Tupperware party and kicked me out if the house. I wasnt in any hurry to go anywhere, and didnt really notice how fast i was going."
Judge: My wife just had a candle party!

My mom's method -
Turns on tears and cries to cop, no ticket.

Re: How to get out of or beat your speeding ticket?

my method: "I just had grease monkey change my oil and now there is some sort of knocking noise when i go certain speeds. just trying to figure it out"

cop: "grease monkey changed (insert person they know)'s oil and didn't put the plug back in. ruined the engine, you better just take it back"

got out of countless tickets when i didn't have brake lights for 3 years but used just brakes with the same result.

Off topic, but why in the hell would you drive a car for 3 years without brake lights?

Re: How to get out of or beat your speeding ticket?

it was before i knew much about car wiring. didn't work when i got the car and didn't work when i got rid of it. i was pretty used to getting pulled over a couple times a week so it didn't really bother me.

Re: How to get out of or beat your speeding ticket?

I have only mailed in payment on 1 ticket, the rest I have fought.
The ones I have fought, the charges have gotten reduced or dismissed.
If you can spare the time to go to court, chances are it will be no points and less fine.

The one ticket I payed, the cop was nice and wrote me a ticket for 10mph speeding when he could have nailed me for reckless driving for going 115mph in a 50mph zone.

When the cop asked my why I was going so fast, I told him I had no idea I was going that fast and that I just had the music on really loud and didn't realize that I was going 100+. I then turned on the awesome stereo in the car, cop was like wow. I opened the trunk showed off the whole system, showed him the book and receipts for the stuff, guy was so impressed he wrote me a ticket for only 10mph speeding and told me not to fight it, I agreed.

So yeah, the best way to lower a fine is get the judge or the prosecutor or the cop to relate with you.

They have you on laser, then they know you where speeding.
Don't fight this point, instead try and get the judge to relate with why you may have been speeding, ala the Tupperware party defense.

Re: How to get out of or beat your speeding ticket?

around here the cop has to show you the gun if you ask. got out of many a ticket by asking to see the gun. if they clocked someone after you or are running a two man team it's not worth the trouble so they let you go.

Re: How to get out of or beat your speeding ticket?

My method is keeping the limit where it matters and not keeping where it doesn't matter. No fines so far.

60 km/h or less? It matters.

70 or more? Just don't go lane-oscing.

Sign up for the autocross and get it out of your system! Then you can drive 55 again cause you got nothing to 'prove'!

I've had so many AX guys tell me that they are no longer 'agressive' drivers, like they used to be. (on the street) because they have an 'outlet'.

I've only been pulled over once for speeding and didn't get a ticket.

It was about midnight in the middle of winter late 2009 or early 2010, snowing heavily, I had street tires on the SVX. I was just driving home, not doing anything nuts because the SVX is somewhat hard to control without snow tires on in deep snow.

Anyway so this dude rolls up behind me all close with one headlight on. Up until this point I assumed cops kept their vehicles in functioning condition, that this guy must not have been a cop. It was pretty dark so all I could see was the light.

Anyway so I assume this guy is some nimrod trying to ride my ass and when the light turns green I take off pretty quick given the conditions, next thing I know there's red and blue lights.

He said I was doing 60, then asked me the speed limit. I said it was about 40-45, and he says "It's 45. So why were you trying to race me?"

I say I wasn't. He says it looks like I was, and I just tell him that I disagreed. Didn't even bother to mention the ludicrous idea of racing in these conditions without snow tires. He just took my ID, came back gave it back and told me to drive carefully and let me go for no apparent reason.

Well, first of all I'm not an aggressive driver. Hanging around in 80-90 km/h in a 70 zone where pedestrians have their own trail and conditions generally good is no "crime" in my book and at least here police don't bother to control such stretches. Likewise, 120 km/h in the 100 zone isn't really aggressive. I'n the morning I can be aggressive taking over, going faste etc but then it's much more about time rather than "getting it out" I don't want to be stuck behind some idiots in Avensis' and Mondeos and lose 10 minutes on the commute.

That said, I'd love it if there was autocross around here. I think trackday is more likely. And I'm piling up people to go karting.

This seems to have worked for me too. But nowadays you have to be more of a defensive driver because of all the idiots who shouldn't have a license. I'd rather see someone going a little over the speeding limit than intentionally run a red light or stop light "because they are more important". It happens a lot around here.

My first speeding ticket (and only so far *knock on wood*) was about 15-20 over. I was passing someone because they were driving way under the posted speed, stopping at every intersection, and swerving. I think they were looking for something or drunk. Anyway, I went to court...told them my story and because of my good record I got a PBJ. Basically pay the court costs + ticket but no points. Just present yourself in a professional and respectful manner.

His tires were spinning so he thought he was doing 60?

Here, too, holy shartsnax. Just last night some asshole ran a stop sign just so that he wouldn't have to wait for me and he ends up going about 10mph slower than I was. Unbefrickinglievable.

Probably! Haha.
Last evening I sat on my front porch watching people 'run' the red light. Usually, they get away with it. I know that they don't always, since I used my picker-upper to gather car parts so I didn't hit them with the mower.
Back before the State had helicopters everywhere, I 'evaded' a PILE of tickets because I had more 'horse-pressure' than they did. I do NOT recomend that now. They will catch you! They will 'PUNISH' you!
This is a different world than I grew up in.
