What is the pressure and temperature rating on it? Because the prev. owner installed an 2008 outback rad on my svx. Might be different.

T-stat is on the front of the motor(behind timing covers and crank pulley) and replacing the radiator won't have an effect on what temp the thermostat opens up.

controling the presure basicly is a function of the radiator cap. The 2008 outback rad has nothing to do with the fan motors not coming on.

If your thermostat is sticking, getting stuck in traffic wouldn't cause that to happen. If your themostat is sticking, it would make the temperature rise driving at any speed any where.

I would first test the fan motors to see if they are good. (easiest place to start) Next, if the fan motors are good, I would test the electrical circuit to see why they don't come on when they should.
If you don't know how to test the fan motors and do the electrical testing, just ask. Is a waste of time to keep grasping at straws. Testing is how you determine what you really need!!!!!!!!
There must be someone on this form that will be able to walk you through the process... (hint-hint)

I have the easiest way worked out and will validate it to make sure by doing the test on mine tomorrow and let you know. Then you will be ready to go! Don't want to mislead you. It has to be done safely.

Re: fans not working

We usually refer to that as "replacing a fuse"

Glad you got it done!

In doing so they have bridged out a very sophisticated control system for two fans working in tandem, linked to radiator water temperature, air conditioning, heater system, vehicle speed sensor and the engine computer.

Your engine will not run as efficiently and you may find a charge for the worse in MPG figures. You are lucky summer is on the way. In cold times you would be much more worse off. Meantime see if you can find someone who knows what they are about. They will need a wiring diagram for sure

Re: fans not working

they actually took 12v power from the radio circuit and powered the fan system with it.
