Arrow OBDII into OBDI??

Getting ready to have engine and tranny from wrecked 96 Lsi (OBDII) swapped into 94 Pearlie Lsi (OBDI) Is there anything I need to change, or is it just an even swap. Im letting a local Subaru mechanic do the work, and he has limited experience working on SVX's, he replaced a tranny twice on a 92 pearlie about 8 years ago from another svx owner. I just want to make sure he does the job right. He has two lifts at his garage so that should make the job easier and quicker, although Im not in a hurry. Dropping both cars off this week, so your prompt replies are appreciated. Im also having him swap brakes (had new powder coated calipers, rotors, pads and stainless lines) radiator (new last summer) and tranny cooler. Hes also letting me keep the wreck there to part out, so that really helps me out big time. I appreciate all your inputs, suggestions, recommendations and comments. Thanks,

Dan

Re: OBDII into OBDI??

If it's just the motor then you will be fine.

Re: OBDII into OBDI??

NO, its the tranny also. The 94 pearlie has a bad tranny, but the engine is fine. Just thought Id swap the engine as well, seing it was resealed last year and has lower mileage.

Re: OBDII into OBDI??

Dan,
I would expect that you run into small sensor/wire harness disimilarities as the swap moves forward, depending on whether your mech is swapping/backdating parts as he goes along. If you are continuing to use the OBDI exhaust, no O2 sensor issues. Mostly smooth sailing one would think.

Re: OBDII into OBDI??

Im keeping the OBDI exhaust on the 94 pearl, 96 engine has extra vacuum lines under intake for OBDII. Mechanic said he can just cap those off and car would run fine. Tom K suggested using the 94 intake instead. Has anyone encountered any issues with this scenario, using an OBDII intake in an OBDI car with OBDI exhaust.

Re: OBDII into OBDI??

There won't be any issues so long as you're using your OBDI electronics. Like the guy said, just plug up the unused holes, though you could just take your old plenum if you wanted and put it on.

Re: OBDII into OBDI??

Engine is in the pearlie, and running smooth as a babies bottom We got a check engine light, but havent pulled the code. Im hoping its the coolant sensor, as the fans keep running and dont shut off. Will know more once code is pulled.
