Re: 2002 wrx radio?

None that would fit. I know the 08 Imps have that but it is a one unit design including the heater controls.

First I noticed that theres two different sockets on the back of the 2002 6 cd changer. I know that the longer one is the the plug that comes stock harness with the wrx. But what is the smaller boxed one?
Another words look at the second picture on this ebay one. The socket to the left is the one I'm asking about. What's it for?

Second, the power antenna. Is the wrx radio compatible with it?
Bump questions.

Re: 2002 wrx radio?

The second plug is probably for an external disc changer... Thats all I can think of unless there was a factory amp that was an option??

The power atn. will still work as long as you get SVXDC's harnesses

i believe the second plug is for the factory powered sub, that fits under the seat of the WRX. you can find them on ebay cheap if you want to add that.

not sure about the power antenna, but you'll have to choose between the glass one and the rear mast, as the WRX doesn't have dual antennas like the SVX. if you want to use the rear one (recommended), you could probably just figure out which wire goes to the power antenna, and splice it to the +12V ignition switched lead. the antenna will go up when the car and head unit is powered on, not just when the radio is being used (like in the SVX), however.

I beg to differ here Alan, but the 2003 WRX unit I had ran the antenna up when Radio was selected, and down when switched to the CD player.

Glenn

i guess it sends power to the "antenna amp" when the radio is selected in the WRX, so it should pop up the SVX antenna. i wasn't even sure if the WRX had a "power antenna wire" going to the head unit, as our WRX just had the stock radio and i never tore into it.

cool.

Re: 2002 wrx radio?

I've been a little busy lately and haven't logged on the board here in awhile, but will always reply to e-mails. See link on my profile (click SVXdc above) or on my for-sale post or on my web page

The various connectors on the back of Subaru radios are described in my FAQ thread on NASIOC.

Some older Imprezas had a telescoping motorized antenna like the SVX. Newer Subarus have an antenna booster amp. All Subaru radios that I'm aware of will control a power antenna, and activate it while you're listening to AM/FM. Just connect the Blue wire between a WRX harness and my SVX harness.

Radios from more recent Subarus will fit the SVX with little or no modifications required.

Great, thanks.
