Rear seat ways ???, not much and leaves you w/ a ugly interior.
I follow your train of thought though. I wished there was something to make this car lighter. I would say to remove the spare, jack and whatever you don't usually use. I have had 1 flat while driving in the last 15 yrs. I no longer carry a spare, jack or lug wrench in anything I drive.

Yeh, what are you still carrying that appendix around for, anyway?
OT might be able to share some SVX weight reduction tips.

Ben and Dave would probably know best how to lighten an SVX.

Yes, but if you take it out, you won't be putting anything else in the car.

the trick isnt so much the total amount of weight you remove, it's where it's taken from. The svx is noseheavy, so start up there. Also, weight up top raises the center of gravity, and weight down low lowers it.
I'd start off with relocating the battery, doing a fg hood, mabey removing the ac pump and all associated bracketry and components. Lighter wheels and tires help tremendously. for a daily driver, I honestly wouldnt remove things so much as I would seek a light weight part as an alternitive, otherwise you are going to lose some form of comfort or safety

Remember that this is a touring car and not a dragster. For a daily driver I don't think you will notice much difference in performance by getting rid of some weight.

Remove the engine......really
And drop it into a XT6. Ask Huck, he's done it. I've been in it for a short jaunt. Almost didnt get out of the car right away, would have embarrassed myself

Yes, there are large steel impact bars in the doors. Don't remove them. You'll regret it if you ever get T-boned. Or you might not get a chance to regret it.

So, how much are you willing to live without? Here are a few things you can remove to save weight, if you don't mind losing them:
Radio/CD player / door panels / carpet & associated sound-deadening (save lots of weight here) / glove box, ashtray and center console / rear seat and side panels / trunk liner, spare tire and everything else in your trunk / radio antenna and wiring (no radio, you don't need it) / trunk lid (weighs a ton and since you don't have anything in your trunk you won't need it - drill a couple of holes to let water drain - watch out for the gas tank) / and if you like to drive alone, remove the passenger seat. Reducing weight can be done if you don't mind losing some amenities. Preston |

Yep!
Yep, take out the invertor and all or any radio and stereo equipment. That should save about 50--100 lbs depending on what you have in it or thinking about putting in it.
