Now as far as gas mileage the first thing you need to ask yourself is how many gallons do you put in per fill up. I get around 350 miles on 15 gallons. My low fuel light comes on too early when I'm at anywhere from 13-15 gallons of usage. Since I know that 350 miles is only 15 gallons I reset my trip meter every single time I fill up so when it gets to 350 regardless of when my low fuel light comes on that is when i fill her up. |

I get 400 ish (low fuel light on fill up takes 16.5 gallons) on the highway.
Around town about 280 (gauge below E but only taking 15 gallons to fill) Best I have gotten on the Highway in my 5spd SVX to date is just shy of 28mpg. Caryn

In the LA traffic, I get about 200 miles until the gas light comes on. City driving. I don't use freeways when commuting...freeways are useless on rush hours in LA.

O.k So to battle my continuing struggle with gas mileage, I was wondering how I can check to make sure my "components" listed as possible gas mileage robbers are faulty. I have no CEL and my car runs fines. Only time I notice knock is if the car is cold and I have to leave before it warms up at all. Any help here would be great. Again thanks for everyones advice!

I did a trip from NorCal to SoCal, drove around Los Angeles a bit, then headed back up the coast... 402 miles from full to when the gas light turned on. I was just in the outskirts of Santa Barbara, so I stopped and filled up. This was with Svixen, my '94 FWD. I've since sold her, and gotten a '92 AWD version to restore and play with.

I just made a trip from Holyoke Ma to Hickory NC and back.
My best tank I got 360 miles and averaged 26 mpg. This was cruising at over 80 mph average with 4.44 gears. Jim

Well, I finally finished the tank of 87. There was no noticeable change in MPG. I calculated it out and it was about even at 18mpg for 87 and 91+. I did, at some points, feel like the car was a little sluggish thanks to the 87, but it may have just been my mind not actually what the car was doing.

I don't pay much attention to mileage.I'm having to much fun driving the thing. It's like my cargo van. When it gets low you put more in.I only wish my gauge was more accurate.
