Security Remote
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I bought a remote off eBay and it didnt seem to be working. When I opened it up 8 batteries popped out along with an oring. I don't know where the oring goes and I think the reason the remote doesnt work is because the outer red button isnt hitting the inner yellow button. Is it supposed to? |

I will check one of mine and see what it looks like. Are the batteries good? That could also be the problem. You also need to go through the process of setting it up. Look in the How-To Documents to see how to do that.

yea, the big red button outside hitting the inner yellow button should cause the remote to go off
the stock remote feels as if its hard to press down, i removed my o-ring from around that small middle button and it seemed to make it click easier, though sometimes it still does not respond when i press the button if you're going to change batteries i'd also recommend the Radio Shack - GP-27A (keyless remote) batteries (AAAA) {svx-iw.com} they're easier to handle because its just one and not 8...they seem to work better than the old 8 i swapped out |

I took the O ring out and I put a small peice of plastic on the inside of the plstic button so the button would actually push the button on the board. It works so much better now only thing is that sometimes I push it on accident because the button is so easy to push. I also couldnt get my remote to program at first because my ign switch is kinda screwed. I simply (and it realy wasnt that simply) ran a power wire to the key in ign pin on the security computer behind passenger dash/glovebox.

On all of the stock remotes I have disassembled, the o-ring was between the BACK of the circuit board and the case back. This moved the circuit board (and the micro switch) closer to the orange button.
It sits roughly in the center of the circuit board in the back. .

Put in a new alarm!!
Put in a aftermarket alarm/remote start they arnt to hard to install if your car savy and you will be much happier with a new one than the stock alarm, i recommend the code alarm brand. www.code-alarm.com, i buy the alarms off of ebay. let me know if you need any help with your install

trouble with module
I bought my 92 SVX last month minus the keyless entry remote so I went to subaru and ordered myself one- paid in advance of course- but they were unable to program it once it came in. They said the module is bad... they THINK... but I still have the security light on the button illuminate AND the Alpine stereo the previous owner installed has been shorting out/doing weird stuff like turning on on it's own.... So I'm wondering.... does anyone think that there might be a connection between the two as far as the module possibly being still functional but just having a wire crossed/smashed in the dash with all of the stereo wires? I have the instructions for takin the stereo back out to check the wires (that are wrapped in electrical tape) but haven't had the guts to tackle the operation as of yet to investigate further. Any suggestions out there? Much appreciated ! Jeanne |

If I took the time and money to do it I would put in a remote start and security. For the time and money I would like to keep it stock.
I have tried putting a larger oring on the back but it still wouldnt click. I dont feel any click with the front button cover on when its off and I press the yellow button directly it clicks. When you click the red button the yellow button should click physically and audibly just as if the the front case was off. |

replacement alarm
mabie a new fob??? they sell them on ebay for cheap try that i guess...or just buy a aftermarket door lock unit; they are realy cheap if you don't care about the honking (security) of the stock alarm.

I took the oring out as I didnt know where it went. I put a thin piece of plastic inside of the top cover of the svx remote key fob, where it would push the button. when I push the button now. CLick Click Click and I actually know its clicking. Also mine wouldnt program but it wasnt the module it was the wiring from the ignition to the module.
