Exhaust insulation???

Do you know the stuff that can be wrapped on the exhaust headers to cut down on heat in the engine compartment? JC Whitney and others sell it.

Do you think there is any problem with wrapping the exhaust pipe and CAT with insulation and then installing the heat shields over it? The front stock pipe uses a piece of insulation on the cab side of the pipe, under the heat shield, I guess to keep the floor cool.

Insulating the headers will raise the cylinder head temp somewhat, but I have no idea how much. Wrapping the pipes after the header should be fine though. It may cut down on the tranny temp slightly.
