Question Transmission COOLER?

I've found some comments about AT coolers and some pictures, but I haven't been able to locate a step-by-step "How To" for this installation. Please let me know if there is one. I have questions like: 1) Does the radiator have to be taken out or can it just be loosened to install the cooler between the AC condensor and the radiator? 2) The "flat cell" type cooler has been recommended over the "tubular" type construction for efficiency. These (I got a [too] large Hadyn) have the inlet/outlet tubes facing down (or up) rather than to the side (like the tubulars have). Do I need side tubes or can I "make room" for the tubes facing down or somehow use the tubes facing up? 3) Do I need some pre-formed coolant tubes or can I (should I) use the regular straight tubing with careful bends?

Please guide me to the "How To" if it exists. THANKS

I can't help you with this one. I used a tube and fin cooler and installed in front of the a/c condensor. It cools the fluid temperature 15F with colder air.

However you will have to take the raditor out to put it in, unless when the rad brackets are removed and rad is tilted back it will slid in but I think the top rad hose has to come off to do that. However with the connections on the bottom I doubt it. Is there room under the rad for the connections?

Question AT cooler

There isn't room at bottom of area between radiator and AC condensor for tubings to pass through (without mods).

ANYONE ELSE who has mounted between radiator and AC condensor who can answer my questions or at least point me to a detailed (even a simple) "How To" for this installation?

THANKS for any HELP!

P.S. IT"S GETTING HOT HERE (105 degrees F two days ago)!

I mounted mine with the tube out the top and then ran the hoses out around the side of the radator.

Question OUT THE TOP!

Did you use straight tubing and then just make gradual bends or did you use preformed (bent) tubing? Was that up, over to passenger side of radiator, then down to tie in to existing tubes from radiator oil cooler?

I used flexible hose and mounted the cooler so its lines enter and exit from the top of the cooler. I then ran the hoses out the drivers side of the radator and down to the fiter and to the return line.

Question Dissassembly?

Sorry, forgot two questions. Do you have to take out radiator, or just loosen at top and tip back to install? Which brand (B&M?), model# or size (19,000 GVW?), and type (coil or plate?) did you use?

THANKS!
