She was fast
I have had my svx for almost a year now. Since I got it, it has been in 3rd gear (limp home mode). I have been trying to figure out the problem and finally found a disconnected plug. I now know what its like to drive a svx... I could always tell it had potential. So 2 days later I decided to go out cruising with my buddy (he's got a fast little car thats not an svx). We were tearing up the streets and I starting hearing a ticking noise... the tick turned into a knock and now I will be swapping the motor tomorow. Prepping everything today, getting the old one ready to come out and I will back on the road on wed. I'll let you know how I make out.

Re: She was fast
Huh? Does the engine no longer run? Are you sure it's just not a coil pack?

Re: She was fast
It will still run. It knocks real bad though. Don't think its a coil pack... when I turn it over by hand I can hear the noise and it will lock up sometimes. When it locks up, I can turn it back and forth a couple times and it will get past that point. I have the old motor out. Just need to swap my new timing belt and tensioner to the new one and she will be back in tomorow afternoon. I decided to change the leaky rack and pinion while the motor was out... no sense in putting that off any longer. Can't wait to be back on the road.

Re: She was fast
Back on the road. Got it all buttoned up last night and took her for a ride this morning. Turned out to be a loosened tourque converter bolt that wedged itself in the bell housing (thank you aamco transmissions) Put the old motor back in... now time to freshen up the new one and drop it in maybe next week sometime. This is my first svx and the first major repair ive done to it, and I have to say that it is a pleasure to work on. Bolts come right out... everything is fairly accessable. Love this car!
