No "personal property" tax, either.

Same here.
No tax and you can tell how old a car is around here by the first letter of it's plate.

Taxes? I bought a 16,000 dollar BMW M coupe, and have paid nothing in taxes... though I pay out the ASS in insurance.

I also have no emissions to pass, no sound ordinance, and no inspection of any sort. I renew my registration, and that's it.

Angry No WATER, either!

Insurance: ah, that's another story!

Do you know what an under 25, male motorcyclist (with BTW an excellent driving record) can expect to pay per month for full coverage (as in "paying a loan off" so there will be collision and comp) on any 2006 600cc "you name it! Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki?????" Sportbike in CA?

Often more than the monthly loan payment.

Some places, if they don't charge you to go IN across the bridge, they'll surely charge you to go OUT!

Cheers!

Come to Tennessee and pay 9.75% tax and they go by blue book Only way to get around it is have the owner put the amount sold and a bill of sale. Of course you cant do this at a dealer

at least YOU can get around it that way
here, it doesnt matter WHAT u have a bill of sale for, they go by the "book value".....ie: buy a junker and pay for the same car in premo condition
the only way around it is to pay ANOTHER fee and have an independent shop appraise the car.then the dmv takes the higher of the two values (between your receipt and the apparaised value)

for ex: if your bill of sale was for 200$
"book value" was 1500$
and your appraisal read 800$ you'd STILL have to pay taxes on the 800$
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
