New owner of a 1996 L - Lazy Shifting Help!

Hi guys and gals

Well after looking quite a bit I found a near perfect 1996 one owner SVX L. I love the car but I would have thought that if the car was offered only with an auto they would have added a sport mode switch. I've got this great engine but have to flog it to use the whole power band.

I did add the small car shift mod which is nice but that does not help with the shift map. The transmission is in excellent condition and shifts great.

I can see where you can mod the 92-95s ECU which includes a more agressive shift map but my ODB II 1996 seems to be exempt.

So you SVX guru's..... is there any other way to mod the shift map in the ODB II ECU?

Thanks in advance

Tony

Not really any way to mod it yet. I don't think any year has a modified shift map that I have heard of. We have the power mode in all years, but only 92-95 had the light for it on the dash. Your 96 still has it just no light. (overseas they have a button to put it in powermode - US models do not)
The obdII or obdI ecu is a separate entity from the TCU which controls the shift map so there is really no difference throughout the years as far as tranny control is concerned.

You could shift it manually when you need to hold a gear
Or you could flog it!

no light but how about the button?

Hey thanks for the reply

When I look in the owners manual it indicates that to activate the sport mode I am supposed to move the gas really quick and the computer does it.

Is there a sport button somewhere to lets me manually do this?

Thanks for the help and great site!

yeah if you stomp on it, it goes into power mode but in the US there is no button to put it in power mode manually. They had that on models overseas.

ECU Harness

Well.... so I wonder if overseas ones have the same ECU. If so then I wonder if there is a way to add the switch.... Perhaps an unused pin on the ECU harness connected to gnd?

Man... I have a lot of questions
