awd bias on svx's

I was told that the SVX is a 70F/30R awd setup... In looking at all 5 of the examples that subaru uses I cannot place our cars into any one category.. So since Ive been driving my car fwd I have only been using 70% of the available power? Or can the AWD sense that only the front wheels are pulling and send 100%?

#1 why are you in FWD mode??
#2 The power split vaires dependant on wheel spin and engine load

There is no real way to tell what % it is at unless you monitor it with a Select monitor.

Overall you are right though, the SVX auto has a FWD bias

I am having to deal with a busted rear dif so I removed the rear half of the driveshaft to make it essentially fwd until I get the rear diff replaced (this week)

And friday my front dif went... so now im NOwd

Was just curious if it has been sending me 100% between the front tires since the rear is disconnected.

You're using 100% of the engine's output all the time. It's only a ratio from front to back.

I have a fuse plug-in for FWD mode. Ive put a 10amp fuse in it and ran the car in FWD for a day, which was really fun because I was doing burnouts at stoplights without even trying. Does putting the car in FWD hurt the transmission or affect the wheel horsepower?

If it can handle a 90/10 bias then Im sure it can... but beware.. I put 2000 miles on mine fwd and now I have a "bowl of steel cereal" for a front differential.

The front diff can handle 100% but it is the transfer clutch you are hurting more by doing burnouts like that. Your front diff was on it's way like so many before it that using 100% FWD probobly hastened it's demise

Me personally... tires are to expensive and Im not as stupid as I was in my teens.. I take care of my things now... Cant say Ive personally done anything stupid in this car. It took me too long to find one as it is to just ruin it.

yea, i looked at my front tires today and the treads looked more worn down than the tread on the rear. I'll refrain from burnouts from now on. I'm gonna try FWD at the dragstrip and see how it affects my time.

Other than traction I dont think its going to affect your times much.. Whether its FWD or AWD youre still using 100% just in a different bias.
