About how long should each one of these repairs take to do, if a shop is doing them? As of right now, the labor charges on my estimate are as follows (This is on top of the $287 I paid for parts):
$68/hour (not that bad actually) Cam seals: .9 hours Crank seals: .6 hours Valve cover gaskets: 2.5 hours Water pump replacement: 5 hours I'm not terribly concerned with the first 2 charges, but its the last 2 that seem alittle high to me. But then again, what do I know? |

I don't think a shop is going to charge you for 6. or .9 hrs. They will probably round up to 1 hr for each .

Well heres another question for you guys. During all of this, I always assumed that since the timing belt is so close to the water pump, I might as well have that changed as long as they are in there. But after going back through my service records that were given to me when I bought the car, I found that the tiing belt was just replaced 15,000 miles ago. Subaru recommends that the T-belt be replaced every 70,000 miles or something like that, so what do you guys think? Should I just go ahead and have them replace it with another new one while they are in there, or should I return the one that I ordered, and save myself about $90?

As long as there is no damage to the one that was put in 15k miles ago, you can reuse it. They seem to be pretty tough. I did my t-belt at 105k miles, and it looked perfect.
