Operation Build-A-Boat

I was watching CNN this past Sunday night (6/26/06). With all the bad news there was one thing that caught my eye.
It was an interview with Steve Phillips. He is the CEO of Phillips Seafood in Baltimore,MD; and is the grandson of the founder of the corporation.

He was talking about a charitable plan which Phillips Seafood is sponsoring to help the fishermen of Asia who were devastated by the recent tsunami.
The plan is called Operation-Build-A-Boat. The way this works is that donations are collected and used to build boats and the boats are given to the fishermen who lost their's in the tsunami.
Personally, I think that this is a great idea, since many, many boats were destroyed; taking away these people's livlihood.

The Phillips Seafoood factory in Baltimore was the site of the "SVX Car & Crab Fest" in August 2003. Steve Phillips also let us use the parking lot to run autocross.

Based on the above, I think that we (SVXers), as a group, should help Phillips in this charitable endeavor. So I am soliciting donations from all SVXers to help build boats for tsunami victims.
I will ask that you send checks to me at work (no paypal as, I am a dinosaur and computer challenged) as follows:

Jacobs Engingeering Group
Three Tower Bridge
Two Ash Street- Suite 3000
Conshohocken, PA 19428-2074
Attn: Larry Singer / 2nd Flr.

If anyone wants to participate and is 'uncomfortable' sending their check to me, please note that you can send a check directly to the Phillips Operation- Build-A-Boat. Their website is http://www.phillipsfoods.com/html/op...nrecovery.html

I would suggest that along with your check you put in a note to the effect that you are an SVX club member, thank them for hosting the meet in 2003 and saying that you just wanted to help.

I will collect all the checks and notes sent to me and forward them to Operation-Build-A-Boat at the end of July.

Thank you everyone.

Operation-Build-A-Boat

I'm going to keep pushing this.

Come on people , we are blessed by being born in the good ole' US of A. Surely we can send some money to the poor people that got hit with the tsunami. Once this week, Don't spend $3 for a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Go to 7-11, Wa Wa, etc, and buy a coffee for $1. Then buy a biscotti for another $1 and enjoy breakfast. Send the remaining $1 to me or directly to Operation-Build-A-Boat.

Let me talk to Mike (Rufus) of Phillips Foods about the possibllity of SVXers sending a check to him, or the person of responsibility of accepting the moolah. Too much loose money COULD prove an irresistable temptation to the Singer shoe purchasing agent.

Ron.

Ron,

I alredy spoke to Mike. He wants me to collect the money.
The household shoe purchasing agent has graduated from shoes to jewelery (Hon, what happened to my tranny fund?). She keeps humming a little diddy called 'Diamonds are a girl's best friend.'
I hope she never gets the idea that shoes can be encrusted with jewels.

Anyway Ron, on a more serious note, how about not buying that really expensive Box-O-Vino. Make a contribution to the "Build-A-Boat" cause instead.

Thanks.

I encourage everyone to help out with this cause. Phillips Seafood has been very generous to the SVX community, and as such, i think we should help them raise money for their cause.

PS- Larry, you may have to hire these guys to guard Rosie's new diamond encrusted shoe collection!
