headlight issue

I have a issue with the passenger side high and low beams,I have battery voltage at the connector but when I install a lamp it kills the voltage, bulbs are good and so are relays, also foglamps work on both side, checked all known fuses also.Drivers side is a ok.

When you say "install a lamp", do you mean high or low beam?

I tried both, the connectors have voltage without bulbs, but installing the bulbs and I get nothing, also tonight I notice my bright lights indicated was on,after I removed bulbs from both sides, high beam the indicator didnn't come on at all,I may have a ground issue somewhere.

Would just about have to be a ground if you are getting the 12 volts with the lights turned on, One side of the plug that goes on the light would be the ground. The hi beam ground is through a relay that grounds it and is common to both left and right hi beams. You say one is hot without the lamp plugged in. that only leaves an not complete ground and could be in the electrical connector. connectors are relative inexpensive and readily available. I changed all mine because one got bad. Seeing if the connector has a good ground on the side without the voltage is easy with an ohm meter.
Good luck.

That sounds correct,I will be replacing several wires this weekend,I have the low beam working but with power from the drivers low beam,I disconnected the power side and tapped into the driver side for power, light came on.What I understand from what you are saying is all I have to do is to leave the power wire connected and run another ground to the body or somewhere.

Your idea worked,so I just checked all my grounds cleaned and replaced some reconnected the low beam back to the factory harness,I have lights again, also note that your alternator connector may need completely replacing my still works back I will check the salvage yard for some conectors.I will be using a larger gauge wire also.Again thanks
