Wedding bells - off to the left coast.
My one & only kid (daughter) has decided to make it legal this coming Saturday, so it's 3000 miles via Southwest Air to Sacramento on Thursday, so I can take her off my payroll whilst standing around in a suit in the 100 degree heat. SURE - it's an outdoor ceremony! Assuming I survive the elements & in-laws I plan to rent something I can sleep in, & do a tour of wine country (surprise), check out Yosemite, visit an old Army Buddy I haven't seen in over 40 years in Sun City, then head back North via the coastline to San Francisco, & back to the airport. Two weeks of hippydom. Can't wait!
See 'ya again after fireworks day. Ron.

Ron - do they have wine in boxes in the California wine country? The last time I was there I only remember bottles.

Its a nice drive through the NAPA county and a great experience. I recomend the Garlic wine for cooking, the free wine tasting, and the pickled esparagus... It's a nice cruise in an SVX if u go through the right hills

I did the 'prep' on 2 different old cars for the cross country trip. One was a 39 Dodge p/u and the other was a 57 Chevy wagon. Both were 283 powered, with powerglide trans. The 57 made it to San Francisco, and the Dodge cruised Van Nise ( sp) Bvd. I still have the post cards! The Dodge guy wrote " Flying Colors!!" Pushed snow through the Rockies and 105 degrees in Death Valley. Had a flat in Wyoming. The 57 did it the 'hard way'. They left here, ( Cumberland), went to Ocean City, turned left, went to Bangor Maine, turned left. Went to Seattle Washington, turned left. Went to San Francisco, where some Mexicans STOLE it!! ( They came back in a 61 VW van!) LOCK your car! Take your keys! ( and it MIGHT NOT get stolen)

Ron,
Have a good time, and I hope your daughter has the day of her life! You are mellowing with age, and heading for the right part of the country with a camper van to bring back some samples. Have a wild time, man. Life is short. Joe

Right Way
You could, of course, do this the RIGHT way. I have seen some SVXs for sale in the area. What you should really do is buy one of them, take your wine tour and then enjoy a leisurely right back home in real style.

Good for her.
Hi Ron, Have a great trip and enjoy your daughters big day. Then check into a cheap motel that has those little bottles of wine in the fridge. My sister and her family live in Sacramento and I've been there a few times. Not to bad as cities go. Take care and enjoy your trip, BOBB

have fun out west (it's hot here!)
If you do happen to make your way through Sacramento I think someone on the network still has a 92 for sale with 89,000 miles on it. As far as wine goes, skip Napa and drink your way through Sonoma County. Best winery in the county is Deus Amis, but don't tell anyone, it's a secret.
Congrats.
