Michael,
Will you be hooking up exhaust gas monitors so we can see if the engine is still "clean" enough to pass emissions after the chip mod?
Thanks.

Ya, I'll be using a gas analyzer. I'm not sure what to check for emissions though. If it won't pass and it's really a problem what i can do is offer memory chips with the stock code so you can switch the chips in the memory adaptor in order to pass.

This applies to Arizona metro areas only (Phoenix and Tucson).
The guys running the Emissions Test Station here have a single sheet of paper that lists by year. No differences between make and model, only fuel type. Tests are as follows (for my '87 Jeep Cherokee, only vehicle I could find a 'report card' for):

Visual Tests. These obviously don't matter for what longassname is doing.

Air system: Pass/Fail (I don't know what exactly they check)
Catalytic Conv: Pass/Fail (Visual check, much like going through customs)
Gas Cap Pass/Fail (some kind of vacuum hose)

Pollutant tests:

Hydrocarbons in ppm: 57 (my Jeep) 220 (standard) < Passes
Carbon Monoxide in %: 0.04 (Jeep) 2.00(standard) < Passes

If I remember correctly, the test was almost identical for MY1992. If you would like a scan of the sheet Arizona uses, I have it some where, but can't find it right now. If it would help, I'll put effort into finding it I wouldn't be surprised if every state has one, or something similar.

I hope this helps
-Nate

I didn't end up needing to borrow one as I ordered it to make %100 sure I had good base code but only one person aggreed to do so if I needed. For that reason immortal_suby gets the first and only free chip to examine. But if you purchase one and want to run on the dyno to verify your performance increase please do and share your results with everyone.

I can't wait.

Bummer. I've always thought the SVX could benefit by tuning the tcu for more performance. I would have seriously considered keeping the 4eat if there was a way to change the tcu parameters.

I kind of like the way the svx transmission works. Very smooth on a car in good working order. I don't think most of the owners in here have driven an svx in truly good running order with a pristine transmission. Let's not get people talking about transmissions in this thread though. If someone hijacks this thread to whine about their shot transmission i'm going to have to smack them.

<threadjack>

Mine is working great, but I just don't like the shift points. I would just prefer it to shift at a higher rpm under normal driving conditions. Its made for cruising like a granny or going WOT and nothing in between IMHO.

I have the new prototype memory adaptors. Edelbrock put the nitrous kit in a box yesterday. I'll have it all in next week. Probably going to schedule the dyno time for the monday after.
