help!!!! No start!

Okay.

I have a hard starter and read the posts this morning. Here is what happened

Changed the coolant temperature sensor.
Cranking, fully charged and linked to the SUV.
I can hear the fuel pump hum when I turn the system on.
Checked the fuel lines by the filter and coolant tank. There is fuel.
Tried taking the battery terminal off for 10 min to clear codes
Car parked on a 15 degree driveway. Nose up.

Alas! No start!

The problems have started after the great Midwest blizzard. She starts and goes then did this to me today.

I was cranking and really trying. On and off before replacing the sensor upon finding that an advance auto parts down from me had the parts.

Tried taking the plug off the sensor. The fans turned on.

I'm at wits end and I'm stuck 45 miles out . Need to get home.

Thank you in advance to fantastic forum Gods!

So the engine turns but it does not catch?

What's this about an SUV?

Did you leave anything unplugged?

How can you hear the fuel pump hum? Is it not factory? Is the rear seat down? Do you hear the characteristic "fuel burble"?

Have you tried putting the old sensor back in?

Re: help!!!! No start!

Yup. I had the rear seat down.

No did not replace the old one. It looked pitted and crusted.

Is there a way to diagnose fuel pump issues?

Thanks!

The SUV was for charging the battery due to too much attempts at cranking

Is there a better way to diagnose fuel pump issues?

If you can hear the burble and 3 relay clicks it's working.

I would think it is more likely something else is wrong. If it is at all possible, turn the car around (using gravity) and try to start it.
If it is indeed not getting fuel, whatever is left in the lines will dribble into the injectors and it should stumble to life for a moment.

If you do that and it does not, I would try putting the old sensor back in to eliminate that as a variable.

Check your hoses and wires.

Far as "diagnosing" the fuel pump, the easiest way I've tried is by jumping the fuel pump relay.

Re: help!!!! No start!

This might be a stupid q, but is there a chance to flood the car with fuel?

I'll try on a flat surface...

Re: help!!!! No start!

Yes it is possible. I've done that. It took a whole day of sitting for it to clear up. I also happened to replaced the battery and "clean" the crank sensor while it was down, so... hard to say exactly.
