my 4.44's SECOND rally-x + pics!!

well, we made it through another event unscathed !!!

engine temp gauge read high after first (or was it second?) run....turns out the FINISHING NAIL the previous owner had jammed in the fuse box lost contact and the fan wouldnt come on
(one of the spade lugs had pushed back down through the fuse block....this will be fixed VERRRY shortly !!)

ran great...still learning to drive it though...(note to self, fast in doesnt = fast out of the turns!!)
coming from a civic...i am still learning to take advantage of the AWD and power plus the good brakes(!) .....the civic was a different beast to get times out of....

i havent seen the official results yet, but i WON awd stock class and i think finished 2nd or 3rd over-all !!(out of i think 14 entries)

yay for me !!
LOL

pics are at:http://pics.spoon.org/Cars/BAC-AutoX-12-03-2006/

cheers!!

I don't really know how rally cross rules work - how are you competing in a 'stock' class? You've clearly modified the car.

I mean, I've modified my MR2, and I compete in E-Stock - but I've hardly modified the drivetrain.

You need to submit a high res version of this one for the 2007 Calendar!

we run pretty simple rules.......if the car has been lightened..it is in "prepared" class....front rear or awd doesnt matter.....or if the car has had improvements in suspension/engine beyond normal replacement type parts.....

stock is broken down into front rear and awd classes.......there are some quirks in our current regs in that brake and transmission/final drive (!! hehe !! ) arent yet included in the "prepared class" list of mods....

this will likely be the only season that i'll be able to run stock class so next year she gets the full treatment of going on a diet and getting new rally appropriate suspension....plus exhaust work and skid plates !!

this isnt realyy a formal championship that we run...it is organized by my club (www.bluenoseautosport.ca) and is more of an organized way to go have fun through the fall/winter/spring months

it is so informal that a competitor can get a mulligan on a run !!
ie: stall at the start
or do 4 laps instead of three (me !! d'oh !!)

how'z that for friendly competition?!?!?

Sounds like a fun group. So are your events sanctioned by a larger organization, like the SCCA?

Rally-x uses much different rules. Tires are one of the big things for classing. Basically here you'd run FWD, RWD or AWD Stock, FWD, RWD or AWD Prepared- if you're lightened but you still need dot legals and Special if you're running non dots.

I have a set of 10 year old dirt stockers in the basement that worked VERY well when we rallied ours last year. If you wanna pay for shipping and time and effort I'll send 'em to ya. We've simply determined you can't cross over from a prepared racer to rallyx for a weekend though. It hurts the car and the driver too much.

agreed
one of our guys has an IT golf that he would convert to rally-x spec at end of race season...even he bought another golf so he wouldnt have to go through all that....

i have yokohama rally tires in my shed...i just havent sourced wheels yet...

thankyou though for the offer!!

i need to test-fit wheels before i buy them......i need 15" steelies....

but i will likely need either spacers or clearance the calipers(or both) to make them work...

just havent had time
"she who must be obeyed" ie: wifey is insistent the house reno gets farther along before i spend toooo much time on the car....

lol

hell, i'm running in the top 3 - 4 after only my second event in the car using WALMART snow tires!!!!

hehehehe
and handily winning my class.....

i wonder where i'll be with some proper rubber??!?!

i cant wait !

(i use too many exclamation points...)
lol
