Funny. I'm gonna go out on a limb here...

No way no how a near $30K vehicle will be sold here by subaru with a 2.0l engine, even if it is turbo charged. It's just not what people in the US want. Americans we like lots of low end grunt out of traffic lights and what not. The B4 is a nice car but I predict it will fail in the US market.

The Legacy 3.0 would sell, and a legacy 3.0t would sell.

boy i hope you're right and its a sales flop!!! that way i can buy one cheap after a few years! its supposed to have a twin-screw turbo (anyone know what the hell that is?), so lag/lack of low end supposedly won't be a problem. i'm not taking any of this as 100% fact, but i hope they bring it here.

unfortunately, "cross-over" vehicles are the next big thing.
At the moment, I will accept these as cars, inasmuch as they are not based on pickup truck frames, drivetrains or suspensions. (I'm curious whether people in the SUV/ minivan market will distinguish the upcoming Daimler Chrysler and Ford "cross-over" designs as something unique or simply dismiss them as station wagons; aren't they?) Meantime, some great products are available in the market and more are coming that cannot be construed as anything but cars. The latest Nissan FM platform products are one of the more visible examples, led by the Infiniti G35 iteration.

It's a twin turbo, so what happens is the smaller turbo spools up quickly. It does help with low-end torque, but in the US a "6 cylinder" engine is something that people will pay ~$30K for but not a 4-banger.

You know that is so true. People still associate turbo with bad things. They want dependable NA 6s and 8s to haul them for 30K group... I guess that is why Saab doesn't do more in its class. Saab definatly has status but people are quick to judge the turbo and look elsewhere for a 6 or 8 all natural.
