intercooler design.. help?

Well i got my intercooler today and I was going to spray it flat black. After looking at it by my car i started to think it might look better with a logo sprayed in the center.

I was either thinking of doing the Alcyone logo in the center or just doing the SVX logo.

Now on top of that im unsure the color combo... Heres what i was thinking

Leave it silver and spay the SVX or alcyone logo black
Leave it silver and spay the SVX or alcyone logo red
paint the intercooler black and paint the logo red
paint the intercooler black and paint the logo white

Now the car is going Copper red from the 2008 Mazda MX-5 this weekend. The wheels are going black with a red lip

My wheels are replicas of this so they will like that

Re: intercooler design.. help?

Front mount, or top mount?

Front mount, just leave it black.

Top mount, I would go either black or silver with a red alcyone logo, or SVX in stenciled text, like the STI on the intercooler of WRX STIs...

Its a front mount.

I have always run a flat black one but im not sure if i want to do straight flat black again...

Heres a few of my past projects with the black front mounts

93 Impreza with a EJ207 swap

04 STI with an SZ55 turbo

02 WRX, Fully build long block, 8300rpm, GT35R turbo

It looks good on those cars but i think that i the SVX just needs something else on the front...

Re: intercooler design.. help?

Can you even see it from the front?

The SVX is so low, and the front bumper so far forward, I can barely see the lower intake more than the bottom of the bumper cover, unless I am far in front of the car, or laying on the ground...

+1 you won't hardly be able to see it unless you cut more of the bumper out. Also, I'm all for customizing and all that, but I think the SVX just is better suited with a clean solid color look without a whole lot of decals and logos everywhere. Just my opinion.

Re: intercooler design.. help?

i'd say spray a black one on
i'm not too familiar with it but i'm sure if you paint the entire intercooler your also ruining the function, the paint would act kinda like a barrier/insulator so you wont get as cool air as you would just stock

Re: intercooler design.. help?

If you're going to be opening up the bumper cover or doing something custom there, a silver or polished intercooler could look sweet, but if you're just going to be putting it down in that tiny opening, then I'd keep it flat so it looks more discreet. If you're going to make it obvious, then make it obvious. But if it'll be subtle then keep it subtle.
