Greatest Automotive Flops of the Last 25 Years
Looks like the SVX is on this list (see link below). Funny I like some of the other cars on the list also. I guess we (SVX owners) like something different not the same old piece of crap tin can box the rest of the world likes.

Re: Greatest Automotive Flops of the Last 25 Years
Good taste is always a rare commodity.
"the hubris of it's maker" are they kidding? The SVX wasn't perfect, but it was good. It didn't sell like crazy, but they make it sound like Subaru should have never even tried... If Subaru took that mentality to heart, it is no wonder why it has been at least 10 years since Subaru had a coupe on the market, and didn't update the SVX for a second generation. Heaven forbid there be actual variety, even if not everything sells like commodity appliances. If I wanted a Camry Solara, or a Mustang, or a civic, there are plenty of them around... But if you want something different, and actually good, the options shrink measurably, or are completely out of the picture. |

SVX - Among Greatest "Automotive Flops"?
Guys,
A colleague just sent me this and - while not surprised the SVX was on the list, I really disagree with the author after reading what he had to say about our cars. I believe that the price tag and being only AT might have been the main cause of the SVX's low sales numbers, not styling. Also, this guy doesn't seem to like italians much, so I might be biased here, but fu€k him and his "grappa" jokes I say. Ah well, I figured I'd share here, apologies if it's a repost. -Walter

Re: SVX - Among Greatest "Automotive Flops"?
You know... I actually consider this a compliment... even the article said it was a "good car". So what if it was "weird" and didn't sell well.. that just adds to the "mystique"
It just makes it more rare and desireable to me..... and makes for great stories when people see it and ask "What is that?" Trust me on this one...... you should read some of the old reviews on the Porsche 914.... another little un-loved car that has a special place in my heart Poor little forgotten bastard child of VW and Porsche... an absolute marketing DISASTER, and yet ironically, an amazing car.
