Forty years ago I raced one of the first disc brake equiped cars and the brakes were outstanding in all respects. On a dull day they could be seen running dull red. Absolutely no problems with warping and no brake fade but I must say that the rotor diameter was adequate in relation to the weight of the car.
Yes I think you are right Trevor, I raced a Ducati with standard, thin, drilled cast iron disks. Had no problems with warping, which would have been hard to ignore at the speed it did, could make the front tyre howl, under hard brakes.

The problem is the vented disk is a sand casting that is then chucked up and machined. This allows too much variation in the thickness of the disk surface.

A quality product would be centrifugally cast to produce a even casting.

Harvey.

Here's a US site that lists DBA brand SVX slotted or drilled/slotted rotors. As with others, I would recommend slotted only (but I haven't bought from these guys yet). Load the page and scroll down to Subaru parts.

http://www.precisionbrakescompany.co...ot_suzuki.html

My question is why FWD-only SVX's have a different part number(Subaru parts shows the same number on their exploded diagrams)?

As I understand it there is a slight differance in the width & diameter between the 2 part numbers. The larger more common rotors may rub on the splash sheild.
