Re: Vexine: 1992 SVX

Your o ring is leaking, but judging by the fact that you told me you're losing all of the fluid in less than a day, you're leaking fluid elsewhere. Check the cooler to make sure it isn't rusted through. Also check the rubber part of the high pressure line near the rack.

Re: Vexine: 1992 SVX

I remember mine looking a little like that... I had to remove the hose for more room to access the timing belt and the thing was completely dry rotted and ended up just ripping off like tearing a wet piece of cardboard. Probably wouldn't hurt to have it replaced.

Re: Vexine: 1992 SVX

Is it landing on the ground? Mine developed a pin hole in one of the lines going to the steering rack . I ended up replacing all of them PITA. They range from $125 to only $35.00 there are 4 or 5 . If I had to do it again I would have them made. Try the O ring trick first . The Tank all pealing means to me this has been a long running problem, Spilled fluid refilling caused that . Make sure you don't use any Power steering fluid . ONLY autoMatic Tranny fluid .
Pictures of the inside and the pass side please .

Re: Vexine: 1992 SVX

thanks to GreenSVX aka Mike

we figured out its the Cooler, the fluid is along the rad support and down the side of the rad itself.

i lose allot of fluid, short distance and the pump will cry again.

i will get brake cleaner to clean up all the old fluid once i get the replacement cooler.

Re: Vexine: 1992 SVX

You said the power steering was leaking now you say the cooler is leaking. So your loosing 6 0z of tranny fluid out of the power steering reservoir tank a day and it is the cooler.
I know it is cold out but is the A/C working ?

When conn says your leaking tranny fluid, that's what he ment.
SVX doesn't have power steering fluid, It uses ATF.

Out of curiosity, have you been using ATF in your other Subie's power steering systems?

-I realize the XT6's have the electronic power steering
