Security System

Being a new owner and not having my car yet, can someone explain to me how the LSi security system works. Is there door unlock/lock, trunk open etc?

How do you arm/disarm it?
How does it function?

Those are my 2 questions.

Press the security button so it blinks. Arm and disarm with the remote. There is no trunk unlock.

If you lock the car with the key, I think you get like 10 seconds until the alarm is armed. If you lock the car with the remote, you have to disarm the system with the remote before you can open the trunk (or it sets off the alarm). If you open the car with the key after having armed the system with the remote, you have to put the key in the ignition quickly so that the alarm doesn't go off.

Does the button arm the system?? Can I tie this functionality into a 3rd party keyless system so I retain the button function? Does the button just blink the light?

The button turns the system on - it does not arm the system. At least, not as far as I know. I'd have to review my owners manual.

You are right. It does not arm the system. It just turns on the system. If the button is on and you leave the car without lockin it, the alarm will not arm and your doors will not lock. You need to either use the keyfob or lock the doors manually by using the door lock button next to your shifter or push down the lock on the door before closing.
