Fog Light Modification: Part II

How my original thread asking for assistance ending up being closed is something I still don't fully understand. From a simple request to a total lock-down in only 41 posts!



I am still unsuccessful at reaching an easy solution for the original mod. Maybe the easiest thing to do (when necessary) is just pop the hood and pull the headlight relays in the fuse box. That should cut the headlight power and leave just the fog lights (unfortunately, this procedure also disables my high beams)

I haven't gotten around to trying it yet but it should give me the same result as cutting the single wire to the relays and installing a switch, as Trevor suggested.

On a somewhat related note, I noticed that the HIDs do not heat the lenses enough to melt ice or freezing rain while driving. Modifies the beam pattern a bit. I sprayed some silicone on the lenses to keep the snow form sticking and it seemed to work very well.

I am sure this happens to all HID-equipped cars, whether OEM or aftermarket.

It has been reported that the actual wiring differs from the wiring diagram in the manuals. I have no access to a US car to physically check things. A major problem is the accessibility of the components and connections involved. In the previous thread I wrote:-

If someone will provide me with a valid diagram of the actual connections, as they exist, together with a specification describing their exact requirements, both in respect of acceptable physical difficulties, as well as functional requirements, I guarantee to provide the best possible arrangement, in line with those specifications.
