has anyone ever done it this way

Just wondering if anyone has ever done an engine and tranny swap this way, with the tranny and engine still connected to each other.

Did that with an Outback once. It would be my preferred way to do the job if I had a lift.

Re: has anyone ever done it this way

It's definitely less work than only doing one or the other IMO...

Re: has anyone ever done it this way

I was just talking to Sunvalleyray about doing it this way the other day. I didn't believe it would be easier when he told me, but it sure looks easier from the picture.

Taking out the whole subframe wouldn't necessarily be easier. I wouldn't do the whole chunk for swapping unless other associated parts were also junk in my car and better in another. I drop out subframes on all of the SVXi that I've parted.

I just thought he meant pulling the engine and trans mated together vs pulling them independantly.
