Need new engine for my '96

I am toying with the idea of just doing an engine swap to get my car back on the road as fast as i can.

Throw me some offers, I need an idea of whats out there.

I am looking more for lower millage engines, or engines which have just recently been overhauled and are running nicely.

Re: Need new engine for my '96

Is there any difference in the Wiring Harness for ODBI and ODB2?

And if I can get a JDM engine, assuming its low miles, would I need to change anything?

Re: Need new engine for my '96

Whatever you get, I'd recommend doing the head gaskets and a full reseal (cam, crank, rear main, VC gaskets, gromments), timing belt, and waterpump. Also, reseal the oil pump and separator cover. A full engine gasket kit is like $250~ and is worth it while the engine is out. If you can stand to be without the car and are using your other, I'd suggest just pulling the engine and doing the reseal.

well thats one reason I am looking to find an engine I can drop in. My Teal is in use everyday by my mother, and we really need another car soon as my Fiance starts college full time again starting next week.

I want to find a decent engine that can be used to drive around 25 miles a day on, so I can take my current engine out, and take my time with it to get everything done that needs to be done (headgasket, rear main seal, etc)

Lucky before I got the car Timing Belt and Waterpump were replaced, so I don't need to worry about those.

Re: Need new engine for my '96

I have an engine from a 92. Has new T-belt and ran really well before parked.Trans blew and aborted 5spd swap due to rust and money reasons. It is at 107k and I live in Gainesville Fl will sell with accessories for $500.

Re: Need new engine for my '96

my 96L part car has a good engine. sounds really strong. tree fell off and damaged whole roof, windshield and hood, etc. engine does sound really good, around 110k. it's a 96. timing belt/water pump been changed before the tree fell-off accident happened.

it's a part car for my 92. after my 92 is fixed, i will try to sell for parts.
i'm in wv, are you coming to get it ?

When you can only have an engine for <60k miles, would you treat it well? I would beat the crap out of it, personally.

Yep, those 40k miles or so that are on those motors also don't see highways much. They are often in worse shape than 150k mile US motors.
