Step by step brake line replacement.

I'm going to use this thread to do a step by step brake line replacement.

I will be using pictures, and use as much detail in my text as I possibly can.

I hope this will contribute to the community as a whole as I see more and more people having issues with their SVX's.

However, I do not know how to replace them, I think this will be a good place for us to come together and learn and teach.

Also I will not have the brake lines until I get the money this saturday.

Okay, let's have some fun!

Thank you, I'm still working on getting enough money. and ordering it. But help from anyone is greatly appreciated, after all the goal is to make this for everyone's benefit.

Re: Step by step brake line replacement.

I'm ordering the parts today. Sorry for the long delay, a lot has come up in the past week or so. They should be here soon and I can try and document this whole process.

Re: Step by step brake line replacement.

I got the brake lines today. All I need is for someone else to help guide me through this and I can take pictures and detail the process with any problems or "Good to know" tips.

Thanks guys, I hope this thread will help people in the future as I will make another thread that is only the repair process and not just the learning process for me.

Re: Step by step brake line replacement.

Okay. I got one done for practice. I'm super frustrated though, God damn that took a lot out of me. Although I do know how to get the others done and I will take pictures, the rear brake caliper didn't unfreeze as I had hoped. Also the brake(!) light comes on, but I have a hunch it's because almost all the brake fluid is drained out.

Yay. I have some steel lines that i have been sitting on since last fall.

Told myself I would do them "during summertime".

What, end of June already?

Replace the caliper as well as the brake hose to that caliper and it will solve your problems.

Re: Step by step brake line replacement.

Okay, I am in a really bad mood. I can't get the brakes to even work now. I would have took pictures but I couldn't get it right and didn't want to waste people's time.

The real issue now is what the **** do I do? I haven't been able to drive for sometime and it's really becoming and issue for me. I need to drive and I'm out of options.

The brake pedal goes to the floor and the car absolutely does not stop when pressed down, not even a little. Any ideas?

You have air in the system and need to bleed the brakes completely.
