Feedback on Saturday's events?

I know I already have my "things I learned at the banquet" thread, but I thought I'd also throw out an open forum for just general feedback from Saturday.

Maybe hit a few things that didn't fall into my other post.

First, how did you like the events Saturday? Anything you'd like changed for next year?

I think the event at Earl's is a given, unless we radically change the location of the banquet to too far away. It's a great way to start the day and go into the afternoon. Neither us, nor the restaurant, would appreciate all of us hanging out there for 12 hours. And just the restaurant event by itself is not enough to get people to come from very far.

Was the restaurant location okay? Everyone like the place, the food? Would it be better if it was someplace closer to Earl's? I know that most of the members that only showed up at The Rock would not have showed up some place further north by Earl's. So I thought it worked good in that regard. But was the group drive from Earl's to Lynnwood a hardship for you guys?

Did those of you that have been at past events miss the awards? I know half the group there had no idea we did awards and wouldn't have understood them as they weren't at 2007 events. But was that little something missed?

Likewise with the car show. In the past we have always had judging with awards - everything from full blown trophies to just paper certificates, and even sponsor provided goodies. I actually had judging forms and entries made out, I just didn't have time to go out there and hand them out and it looked like you guys were all having so much fun without me interferring and getting all "official" about things. If we DID do the car show, would you want it to be free, or would you not mind paying an entry fee and having trophies?

I can't think of anything else, but I'm sure you guys can. Let it rip!

I would like to really send my many thanks to Earl. We got quite a bit done to my car really, at least I believe so. We got my radiator fan put back in (one was missing and had the harness cut off the car) as well as we got my AC recharged. And we cant forget the dipstick O ring (btw I went home and changed the O ring on the power steering res. since I saw earl do it, and now I know how) It puts quite a bit on him hosting the event at his house (and having 15 cars show up, many with a couple people)

It turned out to be a perfect day for the event. I even got a sunburn, lol.

I did like having the evening event at The Rock, they do have good food. And I thought the Jepordy game was intresting. (Funny how no one up there knew the 301 AE's question... like I did )

About the car show... I wouldnt mind paying some for it. Though as my car sits now, it wouldnt win, lol. But I would still pay for it.

If I think of anything else, Ill be sure to post!

THANKS to everyone who made that day possible, it was really fun!

An extra note on the car show, it's pretty unique (aside from the fact that only SVXes are allowed ), I have several different categories to make sure that pretty much anyone has a chance of winning something, including a trophy the year we had them. Awards for highest mileage, best mods......... even most dirty.

I thought everything went great. The weather was great and I hope fun was had by all. It took a little while for some of the new members to realize that we could do some stuff to their cars that would help them out. We did get quite a lot done to a couple of them. I could have changed out a radiator if I had planned on that before. We had oil changes, o-ring replacements, waxing, washing, and other great stuff. I had a great time and getting excited for the Dabob meet.

OH sorry, I just got my intel from Norm who had said it "More social than maintenence". Which to him sounded like a good thing.

Either way cool deal.

It was very social and some maintenance and it was a good time. It was not as intense as when we do just maintenance.

IMO, "intense" maintenance is best left to "appointment" situations where folks just set up a time to do something as they need it and then put out an open invite to everyone on short notice. Not a big meet, but people are welcome to come out to watch and learn.

The "official" MM should be about what you described Saturday as. Demonstrate a few tried and true "easy" fixes, a few people doing their own thing, but everyone has plenty of time to socialize and help each other out. No one is stuck 8 hours in the garage with a tranny cooler install that has gone awry and the risk they may not get home until Monday afternoon.

Smile Don't drop the SVX Jeopardy game

Troy,
Above all things, you can't drop the SVX Jeopardy game. I have to get another chance; though unofficially, to redeem my score. I have a plan already in place, don't answer any of the questions and I can increase my score by 50% relative to Patrick.
O.K., I confess that I owned a 300zx before owning a SVX and I have a body kit to transform a Z to a roadster, but I have been a loyal and continuous Subaru owner and number one fan for 23 years (minus a short stint with Mazdas); unbelievable, huh.
So, please Sarg, you have got to give me another chance, you've just gotta.
Seriously, the quiz is one of the coolest parts of the banquet. To be a true Subiephile one has to know his stats. I've been remiss, reality check received.

Mark
