These rims and tires for Canadian winter?

Hi all

I've been in conversation with a seller of 18" Murano's wrapped in new Goodyear all seasons here: http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...QAdIdZ27284211

I already have 18"s for the summer, but was wondering how they would differ or handle in a (Canadian) winter compared to stock 16s. My car has Dayle's springs about 2 years old, so some minor sag as well. I will be driving mostly city, but head home once in a while to the countryside...gravel road...rarely plowed...

I have heard conflicting opinions about handling with the larger wheel, and was wondering if anyone can firm this up for me.

Also, I think the price is reasonable on the ad - he was originally asking $1100, he just wants them out of his apartment now (for $760).

Cheers

I would probably use the Murano rims for the summer.

Right now I have my coilovers raised up in the rear because the tires rub on the outer fender when the height was set lower.

Your best bet for winter tires is a narrower and taller tire so it doesn't plow through the snow and dig. You really should have more tire and less rim for driving in the snow.

Also just realized the tires are 265/65 thanks to Rob (LetitSnow)...

So I'd have to address that as well...

265/65 MIGHT cause a tiny fender rub.

MY stock 16" are my winter wheels, with 205/55/16 Bridgestone Blizzak Revo1's. In the snow, compliance is the name of the game. Narrow tires with more sidewall will dig through the snow better.

At work I put some snows on a Jeep SRT-8. There are no aftermarket steel rims that will fit it (damn big Brembo's), so we ended up finding a set of Toyo snows for the stock 20". On the rear we downsized from 285 width to 245. The tire was quite mishappen, way too narrow for the rim (10" wide), but it will definitely get through the snow better that stock size.

I'm sporting Revo1's in 205 on my stockers, as well. It's very nice!
