Power Mirror Switch Light
I replaced all the burned out bulbs in the dash and overhead console thanks to you all.
I pulled apart the power mirror switch and there is a microbulb in there seated in a tiny plug-in module that fits over pins. Subaru does not carry this piece. How do I replace this bulb? This is the final piece in the dash lights puzzle and I want to "get it all" done.

Did you actually replace the sockets as well with Subaru bulbs?
I replaced ALL the bulbs withe the same type of bulb from Radio Shack.

I replaced a few bulbs with Subaru sockets and bulbs, but for the most part I rewired using radio shack microbulbs. However, it appears that the bulb in the power mirror switch can't be rewired like the rest. Am I wrong?

I just bought a new switch pod... You could always do that.

I just did all of my dash switches, including the mirror switch, using the Radio Shack bulbs. The only difference between the mirror switch bulb base and the others is that it is made out of a rubbery material that slides down over two metal prongs. The bulb is 'threaded' in just the same way as the others though. (I think...) I guess if you pulled too hard on the little wires you might actually rip the holder but you'd really have to be tugging on it. On mine anyway the new bulb didn't even need a spacer to get the condom to fit back on as the new and old were the same length.

When you get old like me, the eyes are the first thing to go. I'll have to look at that little bugger again and see if I can find those little silver wires to undo. I didn't notice them on first glance. If you did it, they must be there. Thanks.

Don't feel bad; I'm only in my mid-30s and I had to take my glasses off and damn near stick my nose on the counter top just to be able to see what I was doing!

Yup, that bulb can also be rewired. Just be careful not to damage the socket by tugging too hard on the wire.

Thank you all!!! I rewired the light in the power mirror switch and I now have all interior lights functioning properly. I wonder how long that will last before I have to take something apart again.

From the explanations earlier posted, I'm still having trouble as to how exactly to replace this little bugger.

That bulb/rubber socket just pulls straight off. Once off you will see how the bulb wires are wound around the rubber socket. When I replaced this bulb I pulled on the wire a little too hard and almost sliced the wire right through the socket. Use your best judgement with the tension of the wires and realize that it doesn't really need to be completely tight.

Thanks Earthworm, although the light on the power mirror switch pod turned out to be an easy replacement, some of the lights in the instrument/guage pod were too tough to replace. I ended up buying a used pod from a wrecked SVX and pulling out all of the lights, testing them individually, and replacing my dead ones. One of these days I'm going to get around to selling this baby on Ebay ...Err, maybe I ought to give the guys here a first crack at it.
