Remember my recent experience with the wife's 1 hr old Outback? I slid ~400 feet into a stone wall at the end of my driveway. What a rush.

The SVX is not going out in this weather without studded snows.

Hi Matt,

How have you been?

Did you get your driveway plowed out?

I think I am going to get Toyo Observe tires. Walnut shells and all but I can't find anyone with them in stock.

Hadn't even moved the Legacy till this morning to go to work. Made it about 10ft from the car port and the thing got hung up on the snow. So I dug it out and tried again, made it another 10ft and it slid toward the rocks and got stuck. Dug it out again moved forward tried to back up and it got sucked in to the rocks again. I ended up hooking a tow strap to it and pulling it the way down my driveway with my LOYAL! I think I should lift the Legacy too. Actually I'm brobly going to build a plow the Loyal. 12in of snow and it climed right though it, and then pulled another car back through it. Cool.

Hello John, actually I was up in the Catskills on Sunday and Monday skiing with my 2 sons and their 3 friends while my wife was home shoveling the driveway. I had this weird ringing in my ears on Monday and could not figure out what it was.

Monday was awsome. Every run was almost like skiing in 18" of untracked powder since the wind was blowing away most of the tracks. I was planning to do some out of bounds skiing on Tuesday since Highmount ski area has been closed for a number of years but is accessible from the top of Bellayre mountain. Unfortunately, I had to get back to NJ Tuesday morning and deal with the snow.

One of the neighbors plowed our road once starting at the top but could not get back to the top for another pass. My wife used the 12hp snow blower for a while but then could not get it re-started. The neighbors were helpless also. Once home, I got it started without any problems. You just can't get good help these days.

Have you tried Oxford Tire? I get all my snow tires from them and they were able to locate 1 tire for me a couple of weeks ago.

What's with the walnut shells? I have never heard of this. I did see someone advertising snow tires with carbide particles embedded in the tread but not walnut shells.

Matt

Matt,

They use crushed walnut shells imbeded in the tread rubber.
The walnut has a hard shell & the sharp points of the shell dig in. They are also bio-deradable.
Now where did I put that ice cream sundae topped with walnut in sweet sauce?
