Thumbs up

Put the 260 HP in the SVX. Put the SVX engine in the XT6. Donate the XT6's engine to Rufus for his Impreza. (The Impreza engine can go in the Chevy Pick-up, Mike).
Now, all's right with the world.

Ron.

I hope I don't rain on your parade, but I thought that a jdm engine wouldn't run (well) on the fuels that we have over here. I read this on a site that was talking about the wrx before it came over here, and why they couldn't just send over the one that they have in japan.

They talked about all sorts of things being different between the fuels, such as sulfer content, octane and other stuff.

yep, from this site (great info on differences between japanese, world, and us wrxs) and others I think you would need 100 octane minimum to keep it from detonating and to get the full power out of it.

Very informative site, thanks Snowman

Nubs a quote from the above mentioned site
"WRX EJ20G hydraulic lifter motor with a 9.0 compression ratio up rated to 250hp. For 1997 this hydraulic lifter motor was modernized with the new style intercooler and intake runner of the EJ20K."
Being the one I got is a '95 I'm guessing that the older ones had the "air to water intercooler" before the air to air ones became as popular.

Ron, uuhh.......no.

Snowman, It probably won't produce the max HP on our gas, unless I run racing fuel through it, but the computer will retard the timing to make it run on our gas(91-93 Octane)and still make good HP.

I mean the Outback Sport only has about 145 HP and the XT6 only has about 145HP, so even if it just makes 200HP it'd still be a huge increase, and I could always use some racing fuel if I really wanted to play with it some.

Yeah,
My heart says put it in the XT, but my brain says put it in the OBS as it'd be much easier

Looked up the Horsepower for the both:
1989 XT6 2.7 Liter 145 HP 156 Ft. lbs. torque
1996 Impreza Outback Sport 2.2 Liter 135HP 140 Ft. lbs. torque

Still undecided, but its fun thinking about it both ways

Huck,

Aredub has that Legacy auto tranny he's been trying to get rid of, you should speak to him.

Well,
Thats not a bad ideal, but I know about what Randy has invested in the tranny and well.......I'm REALLY cheap
I would not have even tried to buy it for as little as I got the WRX motor and tranny for, His is worth more, as it's been rebuilt already...although it probably does have the right gear ratio for my OBS, and I still haven't been able to track down what gear ratio the 95 JDM WRX Auto ran.

WR/XT has a nice ring to it

Nubs is right WRX's never had air to water intercoolers, only the Liberty/Legacys had them. Still a good motor thoe, you just might have to find the ratio the old fasioned way, by counting gears. Good luck.

BTW. XT

Exclamation

I know this is a little late but a B4 ENGINE for under 600$ that's amazing. Oh what a sleepr I could have.

As far as the gas goes i've heard that their 100 octane isn't really 100. someone posted on that over on i-club.com but you could always carry around a case of octane boost.

Huck - after you put the turbo engine in the xt-6 and sort out all the electronics I'll be heading up there to pick it up and take it home with me.
