I can tell you that the car ran just as 'effortlessly' at 135!!
Aluminium finned drum brakes. 135 miles an hour.

I had an idea you are brave Jerry. Now I realise fearless as well.

Joe

Have you been following the 'Old cars in barns' thread?

I have posted about my latest LUNACY! I have a Rollcage sitting inside my Outback wagon waiting for the 46 Dodge PU body to get here!
I have seen this truck ignored, picked over, abused and rusting away for over 25 years! Now I have a NICE shiney black frame with a 4:11 POSI, and a Buick 455 for it to sit on! (R) compounds, and all!

It is mostly Detroit iron, with some other stuff thrown in.

It should be a little more 'radical' than my 47 Dodge pu. The 47 only has a 440 in it!

The 47 got decent paint last year, but has been a 'Beater' for the last 23 years.
The 46 was my 'parts truck' for the build way back then. I sold it to my nephew, but he lost interest in it, I bought it back and sold it to another guy. We got it running, moving and stopping, then he fell in love, so it went back under the tree. 15 years later, it still sits under the tree, but that is OVER this week!
I built the frame with all the 'good' geometry', so all I will be using is the cab and doors. The bed is aluminum, fenders fiberglass.

It should be good for about 4 (G's) on the turns and pull over 4 on a launch!
The 47 pulled 3 (G's) on launch, but is set up for pulling, not turning.

I have a friend that is a PESSIMIST. One day we took the 47 when we went fishing. He complained about everything about the truck from the time I picked him up.

I was listening to his comments and waited for the 'moment'....
We were following a truckload of brush down the road. The guy didn't want to blow the brush off, so he was doing like 20 MPH. When we hit a passing zone, Mike said' "Are you going to PASS him?"...

Let's see, 20 mph, 440, low gear, 3,000 rpm.. POWERBAND is IN effect!

I pulled to the left lane and DROPPED the HAMMER!! Mike's head hit the back of the cab! There were NO more comments about the truck after that!

PS, I have (4) of those old 'Nail Heads' stashed within 40 feet of this computer!

I gathered up all that I could about 20 years ago when they were 'junk'!

I really want to use one in the 30 Willys, after I get all the geometry issues worked out.
Dad had a 69 Riv, with 430, loved that Buick torque, borrowed it for double dates. I had to let dad drive my 428 Shaker-hooded '69 Mach 1, so, he wasn't left without 'big-block' transportation.

Four nail-heads, 425s? any with 2-fours??? Cool factory aluminum covers??

I BOUGHT a 2X4 for it! (But someone 'needed' it more than me).

I put it in the garage at the farm and when I came back, it no longer existed.

That's too bad for sure. The Nail-head Buick, one of the best-looking engines of all time. Do you have any of the BUICK aluminum cast valve covers? Years ago, a older friend of mine had a 425 in his Chevy pickup.
