If I typically get 16mpg...
$4.00 / 16 = $.2500 / mile $3.80 / 16 = $.2375 / mile Hm, not much. (7000 mi/yr) / (16 mi/gal) = 437.5 gal/yr difference: $87.50 annual, $1.68/week I can handle that.

I drive my Corolla, which currently averages about 30-31mpg mixed.
Of course, its a 3 speed automatic, 104 hp, no fun to drive, and probably would fold in an accident. I use it to go back and forth to school, so there's not much of a point to using the SVX unless I want myself to look presentable.

Just paid 3.8-something a gallon yesterday. I'm about ready to saddle up one of the horses to go out and about.

I have been driving the maxima around a little more than the SVX as it got 33mpg its last fill up. I was actually quite surprised and happy about that. The maxima is an awesome all around car.
I average around 23-27mpg in my SVX lately. I paid 3.81/gal to fill up my SVX yesterday. I look for it to get a lot worse this summer.

Last year, I got 30 MPG on the way UP to Reading. Then, OT adjusted my TPS to spec and I got 27 going home. Oh well. This year, I got 28 MPG up and back...with 276K on the clock...old plugs...and a bad iris check valve.
Your first mistake is running anything less than 92 in the SVX engine. Lamboman tried it and wound up selling his SVX due to engine noise and poor mileage. In my opinion (and this is just my opinion mind you), the SVX is so tightly engineered, if you go too far off spec on ANYTHING, you run the risk of throwing so many things off. Of course, I wouldn't be so confident in having an opinion if I didn't have an SVX with 276K on it.

Randy! Holy crap! I haven't seen you post in ages.
To be fair, I haven't looked. Anyway, I have gotten just over 30mpg in my SVX, but I haven't driven it very far in years. I fill it up maybe a couple times a year, so I have no idea what it gets around town. Still, I agree with Randy - I never put anything other than premium in it. Now, the RX-8? Ow. I'm getting just over 10mpg in town, on premium. It does seem to be getting better; either I'm calming down or the previous owner didn't run it on premium and the car's getting used to it again. Thankfully my commute is 2mi, round trip. I get a little bitter when I fill the car up, but since that's only every couple weeks I'm not that angry.

These are the numbers for my silver SVX since February 29 of this year:
Gallons Pumped: 43.5 (19.61 regular, 10.07 midrange, 13.82 premium) Miles Driven: 895.8 Fuel Mileage: 20.59 mpg The best I recorded was a 134.7 mile boulevard/highway run: 27.6 mpg. My average for both my (bone stock) cars, which do mostly cold-transmission commuting, is 21+. dcb |

My 92 with 4.11 will do about 20 to 22 MPG on the highway.
I bought an 97 Audi A4 that get 33 to 35 MPG highway and that is on low grade. I let my wife drive it for one day and she killed my average MPG down to 30 MPG. It all depends on how you drive. Steve

besides the driving slower and not flooring it, is there really anything else i can do to improve gas mileage?
i use my car as a DD just from school to home and work usually, so im never on the interstate or highways i have the ECUTUNE stage 1 chip so i can use regular gasoline (i use 87 octane), but im getting anywhere from 12-15 mpg really, what improves gas mileage?
