wife wants a little SUV, and i found a mint '05 Forester XT, but she wants a Hyundai Tucson. the newer Foresters are just too ugly, IMHO. i think the front end looks like a sleepy ape.
the Suzuki Grand Vitara and Mitsubishi Outlander are also nice for what you get for the money.

the new Tribecas are much improved in the looks dept., but a little pricey.

i think i really want the fxt myself (since i listed it first), but the 4eat is a drawback. i'm looking at pre-owned this time, so this would be the least expensive choice.

the hyundai tucson is okay, but they got horrible gas mileage...i really wanted a new hyundai santa fe, but i really don't need a vehicle that large. and as much as i loved my elantra gt, the fact that i'm having this problem with the sonata may turn me off hyundais for a while.

i haven't given much thought to the suzuki grand vitara, but the mitsubishi outlander i have considered. i'd like a toyota rav4 v6 and my first choice is an acura rdx. price will keep me out of the last one.

the tribeca is a problem since i like the pignose (and its trim levels), but really want the new engine.

For the $$$ look at the Ford Freestyle. After all it IS based on the Volvo XC90. It's a bit bigger than a "cute ute" but it's smaller than a standard, or full sized SUV. It's car based so it drives REALLY nice too.

i really like the looks of the ford edge (especially in orange), but all the ones i've seen are like 35 large. i'm not really in any hurry to run out and buy something new though.

FXT sounds like fun! You could go street race some 350z in school zones haha. Just joking though, I like the looks of the FXT but cant talk my girlfriend into liking it, I think shes stuck on the STi............or a Miata.

i have been missing shifting for myself, but i am not a fan of the hill holder clutch and subaru stick shifts in general. also , i found i was fighting the turbo when shifting for myself. who knows? if the right fxt comes my way, i won't pass on it just because it's a manual.

is there such a thing as an l.l. bean sedan? i really want a wagon / small suv this go round. i find that i can't haul anything in a sedan and having a rear wiper makes me smile.
