Lots of folks here swear by Mobil 1. I've used plain, old Havoline 10W 40 since the beginning of time and still managed to push my last three cars past 200,000 miles. (The ex-wives made off with the others.)

Do a search on changing spark plugs and you'll get an idea why the quote you got is so high.

Regular oil is regular oil any car can make it to 200k with proper maintenance. Mobil one causes less friction and hence allows a properly maintaned engine to outlast the rest of the car. I always use mobil 1 15-50 racing formula as I rev my engine out even under normal conditions. With the way I maintain my car, he engine would last probobly 400k if i don't blow it up by then

Exactly. (But without an overhaul, how many really do?) Point is, for a typical driver, keeping the crankcase filled with clean oil, changing the oil filter regularly, and driving like you really want the engine to last have more bearing on longevity than the brand or type of oil one chooses to use. Hammer the motor with regularity and something's gonna break sooner than later, regardless.
