I really dont want to drop the SVX that much, i drive down to many gravel roads, and to many steep driveways. Plus i dont want to get the front cpontrol arms past perpandicular to the car, so the roll center dosent go to low, and it stays in a decent camber curve.

Thats great, but our springs only go an inch or less all the
way around, our Prokit.
Lowering the center of gravity only can stable the car
anyway, and we've never had a camber problem on any
car who has our springs. Even if you did need some adjustment
adjustable camber bolts are available.
Just making a car "stiff" doesnt necessarily make it handle
better. A suspension has to move enough to actually work.
What tires do you plan on running on ?

not to get slightly off topic - but my SVX is practically slammed in the back and the front is just ugly looking. Can I just install lowering springs for the front and leave the rear in it's stock condition?

All the "lowering" front springs currently available have a higher spring rate than the stock front springs, so you'd run into handling and ride issues. You might want to consider just cutting a set of stock front springs by around a half a coil to bring the front end down....

Our springs are built like OE and are Progressive wound...
This is the best design for comfort and handling.
from what I understand, the coilsovers are linear rate.
Linear is generally stiffer from beginning to end.
Unless Im wrong about coilovers being Linear

Just want to clarify that the OEM springs are linear rate. I've measured them myself. Coilover springs can come in either progressive or linear rate. It just depends on what people want.

Prototype rear spring near full compression

Measured rate of OEM SVX front and rear springs through a full range of travel. Straight line indicates a linear spring rate.

But you know what? what I want is one hole unit, no cutting, no drilling, no spring compressors, just one unit that I can bolt in. that is why I am more interested in coilovers. Any ideas?

If you want a ready-made product, I'm sure you can find someone who will build a set of Koni-based coilovers. I think Porter would do it. I would do it.

Yeah, good stuff. :-) Its nice to be able to verify spring rates.

Don't count on Porter to do it. Porter has had my spare set of strut cores for over 6 months. I've asked him a number of times to send them back to me by PM, and every time after a month or two he gets back to me saying he will ship them right out, but he never does. now I guess I got to buy an other set of used struts for cores.

What tires do you plan on running on ?

I agree with you about lowering the center of graviety (for less weight transfer), but you want to keep the roll centers fariley close to the center of graviety, or else you would need stiffer springs to keep the car to the same amount of roll, when compared to a car with the roll center and center of graviety at the same height. And when you lower alot of cars subaru expecialey, since we have front struts with less than great geometry, there is alot of movement of the roll cneter on the front suspension when you lower the car past whent the point of having the control arms perpandicular to the car. Plus once you past that point, up or down really any suspension movment wont keep your tire in contact with the road as much as it would if the arms were perpandiclular, which reduces traction.

That's a bummer. I hope he sends them back to you.

I bet he lost them and can't afford to replace them. Try calling Subaru of Gwinnett to see if he left them there.
