Subaru Technicians

Well,

Just went to one of the Subaru dealerships in Cleveland today to pick up my new gas cap so I could pass my emissions and I mentioned to the service dept. manager that the subaru tech. who rotated my tires and gave me an alignment put the wheels on backwards........She looked at me like I was crazy.....I told her how the rims have an "L" for the left sides. I also asked her how many SVX's they service.....and her answer to me was that I was 1 out of the 3 they work on!...........SVX's are very scarce here in Cleveland, Ohio.

Just some interesting info I thought I'd share with y'all!

Everyone have a Happy Turkey Day!!

If your wheels were on the proper sides when you took in the car and "backward" (on the wrong side) after servicing, they rotated your tires improperly. The conventional wisdom is that radials should go back-to-front and front-to back on the same side of the car. Diagonal rotation is a holdover from the days of bias-ply tires.

When you only see 1 SVX every 7 months its easy to forget small things like directional wheels. Keep in mind that 99% of the Subarus on the road do not have directional wheels.

Very good point.

BTW, what other Subaru's have directional wheels? I'm pretty sure the XT/XT6s do, but what about the late 80's RX models?

None that I'm aware of.

The XT6 has an angle to it, but all 4 are the same.
The XT (4cyl/4-Turbo) and RX shared 4x140 wheels with all of the other 80's Soobs. They all had non directional patterns with the exception of the "Motion" wheel similar to the XT6 wheel in a 13" size. But this was also the same direction cut outs for all 4 wheels.
