Warning lights stay on after start-up.

I just noticed Saturday that a few of the warning lights stay on longer than they should after start-up.
The "Steering", "battery", "Stop Light", "e-brake" and "ABS" lights stay on
for around 5 to 10 minutes. Then they flicker and go out.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Yes don't delay, get it tested. It may only be a normal problem, but if it is the regulator it can do damage.

Re: Warning lights stay on after start-up.

Belt may be slipping.

I got scared when this happened to me due to a small coolant spill on the belt. I could see the PS pump turning slow. Cleared after the belt dried.

I will check the belt when I get home.(I work night shift)
Also, I will have the alt. checked when the shop opens.
I got the alternator from Maniac Electric Motors last year.

Re: Warning lights stay on after start-up.

Also check the crank pulley. It's made in 2 halves and may be slipping.

Re: Warning lights stay on after start-up.

Replaced crank pulley when timing belt was changed a few months ago.
But thanks.

Re: Warning lights stay on after start-up.

This happened to me just the other day. Tested the alt. Turned out to be the culprit was only pushing 12.2 volts...had it rebuilt at my buddys shop for 66.29 . O'reilly quoted me 209 +50 core..... brushes were worn down. I imagine it was the original factory piece. I just installed a new stereo with 2 amps so I figured that pushed the ol unit over the edge. Fixed the problem before the battery got worked over too. High reccommend having it rebuilt as opposed to a new unit... support local plus save money

Ps: you're right, the ebony ones are faster

Re: Warning lights stay on after start-up.

My car is still at the shop. They are still trying to track down the problem.
At least the alternator and battery both checked good.
I may not get it back until Thursday. Plus I'll still take it in the shorts for the labor of troubleshooting even if they can't find anything.
