Question retrofitting factory alarm

Hello again!!

I have a question.....has anyone retrofitted the factory security system? I am looking at getting one from a wrecked 92 and need to know if it's even worth doing or if I should just get a new one. I'm getting a good deal on the used one, but don't know if I need the switch on the dash or anything else besides the alarm box itself. I already have the remote and I was hoping to have it done by the dealer instead of attempting it myself.

Even if the alarm itself won't work, would the keyless entry portion of it work? That's really all I want anyway.......I got used to it with my other SVX and my Accord.....

b.t.w. I would be installing it in a 95 L model if that matters.

Thanks!!

To be honest, I have no idea but I think it should fit. The only thing is that the module is fitted in the 92 (under the glove box) vs. the 94+ models are fitted in the trunk. So...

It's easy.

All the wiring, and even the button is in place.

Get the kit from subaruparts.com, or a junk yard. The modlue just plugs in in the trunk. There is a little flap that comes down and the wire harness is in there. Then there is a cap that pops off the button next to the fog light and cruise buttons (to the right of them) inside there is the button. A movable cap with the 'security' lettering pops over the top of it, and now your car has the security system.

Now the question I have with this is...the dlr said that the "box" is under the dash on the driver's side and mentioned nothing about it being under the glove box....i was sure to tell him that it was a 92 model....is there something else I should be looking for in addition to where he told me to look?

Thanks again!!
